I don't think just because we see bits with them floating around half sticking out of the barrels means that's the only barrel time. That may be towards the end of that ride. There may be a bit at the beginning of that escape where they are sealed in. Otherwise they would not be fooling the elves into thinking they are just barrels of wine floating along as usual.

Take for instance: The gift giving in Lothlorien Eowyn's eulogy Faramir and Pippin scene 3 very different scenes, which I can't imagine being missed out now. They're not the only examples as well.

Everyone seems to want to say PJ is getting the tone of the films right but clearly this scene is nothing like the tone of the book. Don't presume to know whether I will enjoy the films or not. I may I may not but I will pass that judgment when I see the entire film. I was referring to the barrel scene only because it has none of the tone of the book that I can see. I guess its too dificult for anyone to understand since most people I guess think this level of change is acceptable as long as the films get made. which is truly sad. Again the scene is supposed to be about Bilbo not the dwarfs maybe people should go back and read it so they can see how it really is supposed to be... I'll pass judgment on the film as a whole when I see it but this scene looks like an epic fail when compared to the source material.

In FotR, we saw a quick shot of Bilbo telling his story to young hobbits. Maybe that is going to be the framing device for the new films.

The scene is supposed to be about fun... have you even read the book? the scene is about the peril of the dwarfs and Bilbo's dilema about whether he made the right decision. as well as a serious escape from the wood elves... not about fun

There were some things I thought were pretty cool in the vlog such as Thorin and the flaming trees, the caves, and a few other things only complaint I had was the barrels

Plus, the vlogs are all about exciting content for the fans to freeze-frame and "oooh" over; as much I like the barrel scene, they don't need to get the actors in costume and prosthetics in order to film closed barrels, so that's probably why, if there's sealed barrels in this sequence, we haven't seen them yet.

But that was clearly a joke, whereas changing the time on three clocks to fool us? I guess they could do that, I dunno. Damn it, I'll just admit I was fooled :)

Other great extended scenes: Faramir & Boromir in Osgiliath The passing of the Elves (FOTR) Eowyn's dream The voice of Saruman Merry's simple courage Frodo & Sam among the orcs Besides these, there's other little bits and pieces of dialogue added that I don't even notice anymore.

There is aquick shot of the dwarf company and Bilbo walking on a ledge whilst in a storm, loud thuds can also be heard ( this could thunder or stones smashing.) My first thought was that this is where the Stone Giant fight is included. Am I wrong? Or has someone alredy explained yet I have missed it because I can't be bothered to read through 230 posts.
