Was Figwit from Lorien? Can't Post

Just my thursday morning thought. But I have sometimes wondered why there was no-one from Lorien at the council of Elrond. One would have thought there should have been in such an important council. Of course I know the real reason was that Tolkien hadn't thought of Lorien when he wrote it, but he could have inserted someone in one of his re-writes I suppose. Still, maybe PJ solved this one in that Figwit was from Lorien. All right, he didn't say or do much. But that is consistent with how the Elves of Lorien behavied in the third age!

and remember... [In reply to] Can't Post

he was traveling with the Rivendell party with Arwen to the Grey Havens. I guess I don't know that there weren't any Lorien Elves in that party but I can't think of why there would be.

Decipher gave this character, as seen in the ROTK, the name Aegnor.

The ROTK credits him as 'Elf Escort'. FOTR did not credit him.

An Elf of many names. [In reply to] Can't Post

Sounds a bit shady to me...

******************************************
The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”

I didn't even provide his fanfic name [In reply to] Can't Post

Which is reportedly a translation of 'figwit' using a mix of Quenya and Noldorin.

I thought [In reply to] Can't Post

That the "term" Figwit was an acronym invented by fans to refer to the character who was shown but not identified and didn't say anything in Fellowship and had nothing to do with Tolkien.

Not blond enough to be from Lórien [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't remember seeing any blond Elf extras in Rivendell. Only some red heads amongst the brunettes. Color Coded For Your Convenience!

Here we go [In reply to] Can't Post

The problem is that there just aren't a lot of Elvish crowd scenes, except when the elves could possibly be in "mixed company." The scenes where they're leaving for the Havens and the coronation scene all show elves of many colors, but there's no way to separate who's who. Even in the Rivendell crowd scenes it's possible to explain away the blond as elves visiting for the Council, but the two kingdoms are not quite as homogeneous as everyone seems to remember.

I know there are some blonde elves behind Elrond at the Rivendell farewell scene but can't find proof. Does anyone have a shot of that?

Well... wow [In reply to] Can't Post

I certainly didn't expect someone to take such an laborous job just to answer my partly tongue-in-cheek comment. But thank you. I hadn't noticed those Rivendell blondes, yet I should have rememberd those dark haired Lórienians. I've spent my time drooling over their costumes (and themselves!)
