A New Tolkien Book (kind of!!) Can't Post

Sorry for a potentially mis-leading thread title. Tongue

BBC News has a story today regarding a new fantasy book by the grandsons of Tolkien (Michael Tolkien) and Dickens (Gerald Dickens):

http://www.bbc.co.uk/...inment-arts-17752990

Although, technically, the BBC headline is also mis-leading since Gerald Dickens will only be narrating an audio version (apparently).

Will be great to see these 2 books published. I look forward to it! Although, I'm not entirely sure how accurate this "news" is, as I was already aware of a verse that Michael Tolkien wrote about the same story. Does this mean he is turning the poem into a book? What are your thoughts?

Both books are based upon re-tellings of existing tales by other authors? [In reply to] Can't Post

I assume that Tolkien's versions are considerably different from the originals, but are both of those in the public domain? Should they need to be?

"Darkness beyond blackest pitch, deeper than the deepest night!
King of Darkness, who shines like gold upon the Sea of Chaos.
I call upon thee and swear myself to thee!
Let the fools who stand before me be destroyed by the power you and I possess!"

Not entirely sure [In reply to] Can't Post

I found other similar news stories to this dating back to ~2010. Suppose it will be interesting to see what we actually get!
