Keep an eye on the Home Page. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm sure TORn will get a Line Party page up and running as the release date gets closer, just as we did for the LOTR movies. That will make it easy to find or start an official Line Party for your local theater.

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

Hail and well met, fellow "Knickerbocker"! [In reply to] Can't Post

Really, you're from The Capital District? You know, that was one thing I regretted when LOTR came out...I knew no-one from TORN.

I've been thinking about this....I don't know about you, but Crossgates (and its IMAX screen) here we come! Reply or PM me here, mellon nin!

And are you planning to go to the NYC ROTK Radio City event too?

Yup, I'm in Albany! [In reply to] Can't Post

Hullo Sunflower!

I've been trying to locate other Tolkien folk in the area. There are some in the SF group, which puts on ALBACON.

I fully intend to be there for the line party in December. :-)

I don't think, I'll be able to head down to NYC. Health problems sort of limit travel at times.

I have located another TORn folk in the area.

Are you interested in getting together for coffee over at Denny's or some suitable substitute?

I'm going to drop the chap a note today as well.

Have you dropped by the web site for the 2014 Tolkien Conference I'm hosting? Please give it a look.

Drop me an email or even call.

Cheers!

Fine [In reply to] Can't Post

I'll drop an email soon. I'm sorry that you will not be able to make it to NYC, but nonetheless am looking forward to the "Line party"--I'm sure we'll find some people who read TORn! Only thing is, I plan to make my first showing at the IMAX screen, regardless of what the heck fps Theater 1 at Cross gates in in:). I'm hoping you're not one of the people who can't handle 3D...(but don't worry, I plan a 2D showing afterwards!

Let me know on here where our other friend is from (I'll let you know what part of town I'm in, in a PM (do you want me to email or is a PM ok?)

Go Line Party! [In reply to] Can't Post

Is good. I keep a close eye on my email. I did drop a note off to the Crossgates admin about a potential Line Party, but never heard back. I'll have to give them a call on Monday. No reason one can't help them with the crowds.

Yes, I plan to be at the first showing. I'm sort of assuming the "Midnight Show" will be in IMAX format. My friend and resident IT Geek, is planning on accompanying me. She handled registration for me at the conference in 2011. She has gotten more interested in Tolkien due to the conference.

I've watched 3D and enjoyed them. Yes, I'm also assuming I'll come back to watch the film again in 2D.

The chap hasn't gotten back to me. He works on North Broadway in Albany.

Email or PM works. Whatever is most comfortable for you.

I've been reading the books since 1964. I've also run 3 Tolkien conferences and preparing the 4th. Please check out our web site. I hope, you and your friends will consider coming.

I've read TLOTR aloud with others. It usually takes about 8 folk to do it correctly. Everyone reads about 3 pages and passes it on. It takes about 3-4 months meeting once a week for 3-4 hours over Pepsi [Coke is acceptable], dip, chips, etc. My friend is interested in doing it beginning next fall.

Crikey! 22 SEP is on a Saturday! We've usually read on Sunday, but I'm sure an exception can be made, if we get enough gentle folk.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Cheers!
