Are you going to see Disney's "John Carter"? Can't Post

I'm interested in anything from Andrew Stanton. I love his work on Finding Nemo, Toy Story 1,2,3, and other Pixar films. From what I've read the movie is going to be really good and the early critics' reviews are very positive.

Isn't this the film [In reply to] Can't Post

that took "of Mars" out of the title because girls don't like space?

That's literally all I know about it. I'll have to look around for a trailer if it's good.

It is... [In reply to] Can't Post

They thought "John Carter" would apply to more people than "John Carter of Mars".

Yes. I've been waiting for this film [In reply to] Can't Post

ever since I first saw the first trailer.

I can't say I'll be there on day one, but it won't leave the theaters without my having gone to see it, unlike many things that I'm waiting on the blu ray for.

No plans to... [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a hard time getting into movies whose trailers feature alien space babes quite so prominently. sigh.

Not the first title change [In reply to] Can't Post

The title of ERB's first John Carter of Mars book is A Princess of Mars. I read the whole series when I was in my teens and I remember when Touchstone Pictures first acquired the screenrights, some years ago.

Yes [In reply to] Can't Post

but with trepidation.... I want it to be good but it's Disney and their live action has not impressed me in years.

I have seen the poster for John Carter.... [In reply to] Can't Post

this is the poster showing "John" chained to a stake with two monsters that resemble an elephant and an ape and at the bottom of the poster is the words John Carter. The picture is okay because I know it is science fiction. As for the title it has only fueled my curiosity about this movie which is probably why I may go and see it.

Probably not. [In reply to] Can't Post

But not because of anything to do specifically with this movie.

I have no particular desire to see any movie.

The Hobbit movies excepted, of course!

YES. [In reply to] Can't Post

Michael Chabon is one of my very favorite novelists, and he's the one who, with Stanton, adapted the screenplay. I liked what I've read of his film treatment for X-Men, so I'm very much looking forward to seeing his screenplay in action.
