Okay, Okay here's a good one. X-men vs. The Fellowship?

Who would win? I mean X-men have like super human powers but Legolas and Aragorn know some curses and such... Honestly, I'd think I'd have to go with X-men no matter how much I want to go with The Fellowship.
Dagonet, Three Rings for the Elven-kings under the sky, Seven for the Dwarf-lords in their halls of stone, Nine for Mortal Men doomed to die, One for the Dark Lord on his dark throne In the Land of Mordor where the Shdows lie. One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie.

Aragorn begins commiserating with Cyclops and Wolverine about lost loves and turns them both into quivering masses of lovelorn angst. Storm is charmed and distracted when Gimli, as usual, makes a successful play for the nearest blonde babe. Rogue drains Pippin’s stupidity power and wreaks havoc among her own side. And Gandalf, a master of “sanwe-latya” (Middle-earth psionics.) for over 300 lives of Men, is able to turn Professor Xavier into a drooling idiot with just one thought. No contest.
****************************************** The audacious proposal stirred his heart. And the stirring became a song, and it mingled with the songs of Gil-galad and Celebrian, and with those of Feanor and Fingon. The song-weaving created a larger song, and then another, until suddenly it was as if a long forgotten memory woke and for one breathtaking moment the Music of the Ainur revealed itself in all glory. He opened his lips to sing and share this song. Then he realized that the others would not understand. Not even Mithrandir given his current state of mind. So he smiled and simply said "A diversion.”

...And Gandalf, a master of “sanwe-latya” (Middle-earth psionics.) for over 300 lives of Men, is able to turn Professor Xavier into a drooling idiot with just one thought. Just one thought, eh? Inquiring minds want to know what exactly that one thought is!

Pheonix would dissolve Gandalf before, he got to that. Not that I'm wishing that on Gandalf!

Legolas can take out a high flying Nazgul with one shot in the dark. A brightly lit low flying Phoenix is no problem at all.

Sam distracts him by cooking up some cajun style rabbit and sweet potatoes. When the distracted Gambit bends over to take a whiff Sam flattens him with a skillet.

I'd love to see this... but I still think the X-Men would beat them senseless. Is Jean Gray herself or the Phoenix at this point? Either way realistically she could probably melt a couple of young Hobbits... the rest is history... I'd like to see Magneto have a go at mithril as well
Yes, I used to be sparki.

Which Phoenix we're talking about here...movie or comic book. Movie Phoenix taken out by one arrow, maybe. Comic Phoenix, destroyer of a star, I don't think so. As for Gandalf vs. Prof. X.... after a slight struggle, I agree that Gandalf would win. Xavier's lucky though, Gandalf could have just used the wack-a-steward maneuver.
Expect me when you see me.

If not, the Fellowship has no hope. Despite Gandalf and Legolas being kinda immortal, they would be on boats headed west pretty fast - and it doesn't really even matter which version of the X-Men you are asking about.
No wonder all writers want to direct: one still has to put up with a load of nonsense, but even if wearing two hats (writer and director), there is one under which one is not called a thief and then raped - David Mamet
