A SPECIAL SONG PARODY written for and dedicated to Quacking_Troll (with links explaning why) Can't Post

This song parody was written for and dedicated to Quacking_Troll, a TORn forum participant and Champion of the FOTR 10th Anniversary Party "Warm Up" Act Parody Puzzle #1, which I hosted at the LOTR Movie Forum the day before said recent party. I wrote it this very evening as my act of contrition for messing up big time! A background on how I messed up big time can read about here: ( http://newboards.theonering.net/...forum_view_expanded; here:
http://newboards.theonering.net/...b=post_time;so=DESC; and here:
http://newboards.theonering.net/...?post=412663;#412663) (We have PM’d, he was really cool about it.)

As part of my apology, I gave Quacking_Troll the choice of either the song, the artist, or the music genre to be parodied, as well as subject matter from either The Hobbit or LOTR. He gave me a selection of songs to pick, including “My Generation” by the Who, about Gollum.

Here it is, for Quacking_Troll:

GOLLUM’S OTHER SONG, by THE WHOOM*

Village had to put us out (Talkin' self in plural person….)
Once beloved Déagol was found (Talkin’ ‘bout his strangulation….)
Names they called felt awful c-c-cold (Talkin’ how they cast aspersions….)
We still have our ring of gold (Talkin’ ‘bout our Ring fixation….)

This we loves but we hates it
This we loves but we hates it, precious!

While we slowly f-f-fade away (Talkin’ ‘bout our transformation….)
Both of us try to have our s-s-say (Talkin’ schizoid separation….)
We’re not trying to cause a big s-s-sensation (Hidin’ out for generations….)
This is our new occupation (Talkin’ ‘bout our Ring fixation….)

This we loves but we hates it
This we loves but we hates it, precious!

Why don’t you, oh! just g-g-g-go away (Hopin’ for your acquiescence?)
Because of ME we still live t-t-t-today (Talkin ‘bout our co-dependence…..)
I’m not trying to cause a b-b-b-big suspicion (Talkin’ ‘bout these midgets’ mission….)
I’m just talkin’ ‘bout our acquisition (Talkin’ ‘bout our tunnel vision....)

When she eats, then we takes it
When she eats, then we takes the precious!
Mah-mah precious, takes it
Mah-mah precious, takes it

Sméagol flies! We’re falling d-down (Talkin’ ‘bout our gravitation)
Where the magma swirls around (Talkin’ ‘bout our immolation)
Finger tasted oddly c-c-c-cold (Talkin’ digit mastication)
Yeah, now we die for a ring of gold (Talkin’ fateful destination)

This is our destination
This is our destination, precious!
Mah-mah mah-mah (mah precious) d-destination

[Fade in:]
(Talkin’ ‘bout our destination)
(Talkin’ ‘bout our destination) Talkin’ bout
(Talkin’ ‘bout our destination) Our destination!
(Talkin’ ‘bout our destination) Our destination!
(Talkin’ bout our destination) This is our destination precious!
(Talkin’ bout our destination) This is our termination!
(Talkin’ bout our destination) This is annihilation!
(Talkin’ bout our destination) Eucatastroph-ication!
(Talkin’ bout our destination) This is our destination!

*THE WHOOM is comprised of:

John Ent-wistle on bass
Keith Luna-redwood on drums
Roger dal-Tree on vocals and guitar
and
Peat-moss Town-Sandalwood on lead guitar

(They're REALLY hasty, esp. for Ents.)

Quacking_Troll, I hope you’ve enjoyed these apology-parody lyrics, and thanks for being so cool about the whole thing.

"That doesn't make much sense to me. But then again, you are quite small. Perhaps you're right."

Oh wow, I couldn't think of a substitute word for generation... [In reply to] Can't Post

And here you have about 20! Amazing parody, thank you!! Without the word generation, here's what I had in mind for the first part...

People try to put us down
Just because we crawl around
The fish we eats are pretty c-c-c-cold
We never die we just grow old.

But yours is outstanding!

Plus, today is my birthday! (23rd) So this is a perfect gift, thanks!! Laugh

For "Whoom" the Troll Quacks! [In reply to] Can't Post

Oh, gosh, I should learn to not check out your parodies while eating lunch, it's hard trying to laugh with one's mouth full! Laugh

What a wonderful wildness of wordplay! Midgets' mission...tunnel vision...digit mastication Tongue...

You've created another masterpiece, Ruxendil! (Love the band members' names, too!)

Happy birthday! [In reply to] Can't Post

uh yeah it was intended as a birthday present, all part o' the master plan, yeah! Angelic

"I Can See (that it was your birthday) For Miles" -- another planned single from album _The Whoom's Next_ but for some reason Fangorn Ent-ertainment hasn't gotten around to releasing it. I keep asking, and they keep saying don't be hasty....

I like what you have, esp. that you made the fish - c-c-cold connection in there, I didn't think of that!

and thanks, i'm glad you thought well of it. Smile Thanks for the inspiration! I almost started working on House of the Rising Sun and I might have an idea for it. I might give that, and/or the other ideas you had like the Beatles selections, a go at some point, or maybe you should try first.

I had thought of parodizing I Want You (She's So Heavy) before but my problem is this: the song has so few lyrics, and all of them can be applied to wanting the Ring and the burden being so heavy, without changing a single lyric. But it's still possible, I might have some ideas for that one.

"That doesn't make much sense to me. But then again, you are quite small. Perhaps you're right."

Wow, thanks dernwyn :-) [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for calling it a masterpiece! Blush *bow* and Quack_Troll deserves credit for the inspiration/idea of using that song. And thanks also about the band member names -- with a member's name Entwistle, it was just too good to pass up Angelic

I wonder if that might be a good subject for a Scenes for a Hat kind of game, i.e., what would be the names of famous bands if they were from Middle Earth. Previously I'd done one for the Eagles, e.g., Gwaihir Frey, Throndor Henley, etc.
For the Beatles, one of the four might be TheOneRingo Evenstarr, but I haven't thought through the other three names.

I love your Subject line heading btw! Laugh maybe Quacking_Troll would agree to temporarily change to Trolling_Quack for just a lil while, so we could say "For Whoom the Quack Trolls" and then he could change it back. Wink

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

belated thanks gramma! (whoops, sorry for missing this earlier!) // [In reply to] Can't Post

Had a dream, declared my son being woken,
Heard a voice: Seek for the sword that was broken,
There shall be counsels taken
Of the Doom near at hand,

In Imladris there it dwells,
it had spoken,
You’ll be shown stronger than spells there a token,
For Isildur’s Bane shall awaken,
And the Halfling forth shall stand!

Carry on my wayward son,
Then home please, when you are done.
When you’re here, you’ll head the rest
Who defy Mordor.
