"I desired dragons with a profound desire"

"It struck me last night that you might write a fearfully good romantic drama, with as much of the 'supernatural' as you cared to introduce. Have you ever thought of it?"

Jolly schmolly! [In reply to] Can't Post

"His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.

"He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread."

Clement Clarke Moore

(Ha! He didn't tell you about the trolls...or the spiders...or that creepy little guy in the cave...or... the DRAGON, did he? DID he?!)

Bilbo the burglar Baggins, or How the Ring left Gollum [In reply to] Can't Post

Their names end with -ili, -ur, -alin, -oin, -ori,
and Thorin, especially big in their story,
but do you recall their unlikeliest fellow of all?

Bilbo the burglar Baggins found a shiny Ring of gold
and ever while he bore it, you would never see him...old.
Some of the Dwarves with Thorin used to scoff and call him names:
"More grocer than a burglar!" --Gloin, annoyed with Gandalf's games.

Then one fateful twist did lead Bilbo to a cave.
Gollum, glinting eyes so bright, cursed! when Baggins left his sight.
That's how the Ring left Gollum; it abandoned him, you see.
Later, it passed to Frodo. Now the rest is history.

Happy Holidays everyone!

'Twas the deep breath ere plunging, when all through the City.... [In reply to] Can't Post

not a soul was unworried, 'twas not at all pretty.
The watchmen all stood at their stations with care
While hoping reinforcements soon would be there....

OK someone else's turn.

Thank you for all the Ho's Smile (avoiding the obvious joke here) and Merry Christmas to you too.
