Those &*!@%$#@ Americans... [In reply to] Can't Post

Always creating cheesy American Action Heroes! Darn them to Heck! Lets hope they stick with British, Indian or Chinese action heroes!!

Note: above said in light-hearted tone but totally agreeing with Captain Salts post.

Bain in an epilogue? [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't think that PJ & co. would introduce audiences to all these new ME locations in the Hobbit without showing their eventual fate during the War of the Ring. I therefore believe that epilogue scenes will be filmed (if only to be combined with the known epilogue sequences cut from RotK).

I half-expected them to make Bard young enough that it would be he, not his grandson Brand, that died before the gates of Erebor alongside Dain (also bearing in mind that the timeline of LotR appears to be condensed by about 17 years in the films). The fact that Bain will be a named character in the Hobbit leads me to think that he might be given Brand's story instead (he would have still been the reigning king of Dale if the War of the Ring occured within a year or so of Bilbo's 111th birthday party).

Their names [In reply to] Can't Post

Were Beregond and Bergil.

And I agree. That storyline alone would have made the audience give a whiff about Gondor.

As it stands, I can't help but react to Aragorn's coronation with: "After all that suffering, his only reward is the obligation to rule a bunch of film extras? That's disappointing."
