Back at the end of June I gave you all a sneak peak at my latest project, well I'm very happy to say it's now completed. From the first drawings to the last stitch it's taken roughly 6 months to do, working mostly at night while watching tv with the family Hope you like the finished product. First though a little recap... Melian begins Luthien Tinuviel Pre-start Luthien Mortal Pre-start Idril Celebrindal Pre-start And now the result Top section Middle Section Bottom Section If you're interested in seeing them in more detail, you can find them in my picasa album Tolkien Tapestry It measures 100cms long by 40cms wide and it's done in DMC stranded thread. Now I just have to get it framed and hung on my wall *hugs* Kel x

but now what are you going to do with your evenings?
..The land of long-forgotten name: ......no man may ever anchor near; ..No steering star his hope may aim, ......for nether Night its marches drear, ..And waters wide no sail may tame, ......with shores encircled dark and sheer. ..O! Haven where my heart would be! ......the waves beat upon thy bar ..For ever echo endlessly, ......when longing leads thy thought afar

Your precision and detail are admirable. Makes me want to take up a new hobby... although I may have a few too many hobbies to keep up with.
“Tell me one last thing,” said Harry. “Is this real? Or has this been happening inside my head?” “Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?”

And beautiful and lovely and gorgeous...! I hope you have a nice, bright spot to hang it, where it will get lots of notice! I remember those days when the kids were littler, watching late-night Star Trek reruns and doing cross-stitch things for their walls. Keep up the good work, and keep working away! So, what is the next project?

I'm really tempted to hang it on the wall above my computer, the only problem with that is that it's a corner and not really that visible from other angles. I want to show it off Well the project I'm doing now is for Hubby, it's his football teams logo. I think that one will be finished in about a week, it's not that difficult. Two of the other ones that are lined up are presents for people (who might drop in here, so I'll say no more ). I'm doing one of a siamese cat for my Mum for Christmas. She's always had siamese and used to breed them, so she should love it. And the final one is of the One Ring. It's quite involved, so I'll probably leave that one till last as I think it'll take the most time. So saying, I can't wait to get started on it LOL.

I love all of them, but I especially like the black one with the stars and the flowers. Excellent work!

I'd be amazed alone by the perfect silver background! I tried my hand at cross stitch but I didn't go far. Tatting and crochet are more my thing.
Some who have read the book, or at any rate have reviewed it, have found it boring, absurd, or contemptible; and I have no cause to complain, since I have similar opinions of their works, or of the kinds of writing they evidently prefer. Good becomes great. Bad becomes worse. This is why you were chosen. Because a strong man who has known power all his life may lose respect for that power. But a weak man knows the value of strength and knows compassion.

Must admit I was slightly daunted when I realised just how large it turned out to be I'd actually done a wool version of Melian back when I was a teenager, but sadly, just before it was finished, it got badly damaged. I was away at the time and was devastated when I got back and found it, all those hours of work gone! I've always wanted to do another one since. As I'd done a design of my own at college in cotton, I decided to do it that way this time, rather than wool. It's finer and you get much greater detail and depth to the finished design. It had been in the works for quite a while, it's just now that I had the time to dedicate to it. My Mum did one of Luthien Tinuviel and Luthien Mortal with Beren One-hands device between them at the same time I was doing my original wool Melian tapestry (it was back in the 80's). She gave it to my eldest brother and his wife for their wedding present. It still hangs in their house today I do crochet too, mostly baby blankets. I made some for my #3 brothers daughters and for each of my sons. I personalised them with their names as part of the border.

They were sketches or doodles he did on scraps of paper as heraldic devices for families or people. Do a google image search for tolkien heraldic devices to see some. (those google image search links are too long to post!) I recreated two of them in vector software and used them in my Tolkien themed calendars. Our family (when I was a kid) played with drawing compasses for awhile and made lots of designs much like these.

I'm glad I followed Sir Dennis' most recent post into the forum to see what was up. It looks like I can't comment on Picasa photos anymore without being in Google +. That's not so nice. :-( But I hit like on one of the images. :-) You picked some of my favorite emblems.

Wow. That is amazing! You are amazing! I've done a few embroidery projects - very small - and they were on old scraps of cloth. But that is sheer awesomeness! Great job! I don't think I could ever do that! I'd never have the patience.

So, yeah! Heh heh, the title is kind of self explanatory... how long does/did it take you to do those???
