I like mine plain and black! I will eat Twizzlers, but prefer the more expensive stuff like Panda and Kookaburra (don't know how to spell it).

Real Dutch liquorice... [In reply to] Can't Post

but not too salty for me, although a little salt is nice. My favourites are the ones shaped like coins (Munten drop), and the ones shaped like beehives with honey.

I never heard of such a thing!

Give me black licorice tubes, alive and wriggling - er, straight and chewy!

Or Licorice Allsorts, mmm...Cool

not double salted, that is a bit too much. But otherwise, as long as it is black (or brownish) it's okay with me!

I do like licorice (as we yanks spell it) but not salted. Someone gave me a salted one once and it was one of the few foods I've ever spit out of my mouth. (Think Tom Hanks in Big with the caviar)

I like Panda but it doesn't like me so well since it makes me a bit, er... flatulent.

I also like licorice flavored candy. We got a basket of salt taffy last Christmas and some were licorice flavored which I liked.

I also like Allsorts and Black Jack gum (when I can find it).

I know we call Twizzlers and Red Vines red licorice but I don't know why. It doesn't taste like licorice.

Occasionally I like something with a bit of the anise/fennel/licorice flavor -- whether using fennel for cooking, or an anise liquor like ouzo, sambuca, or absinthe. But actual licorice? Yuck. Tongue

Red Twizzlers! That's about all I've been exposed to and about the only [In reply to] Can't Post

liquorice I'll eat. But, I have a feeling that Red Twizzlers are so far from actual liquorice that it doesn't even count.

Our family never was big into liquorice. Partly because I don't think mom likes it and since she buys the food it never came into our house. So, mainly our Twizzler intake was eaten outside the home as well.Cool

As Dernwyn says [In reply to] Can't Post

Allsorts are a good introduction to liqourice - not too strong, and the fondant makes them a little more sweet too.

Liquorice 101 begins here, Wink

I hate it when there's not enough deep, dark, delicious evil in the house... [In reply to] Can't Post

or worse yet, none! Chocolate as well as licorice, *heh*. Truthfully, I really don't care if it's light in color, so long as it has some anise flavoring in it when a craving comes on.

I remember the black liquorice pipes and cigars we used to get as children, but now they're deemed not PC.

It's really popular in some parts of Europe [In reply to] Can't Post

Such as here in Finland. We call it salmiakki. You can find salmiakki chocolate, salmiakki ice cream, salmiakki vodka, other kinds of salmiakki alcohol, just regular salmiakki candy...

And yes, it's awful. Laugh
