Walk to Rivendell and Beyond: There and Back Again Challenge! Can't Post

Another week, another set of milestones!

There and Back Again
Group Challenge Progress

Miles covered last week: 121*
Cumulative miles:
244.45

The Company has passed the Three-Farthing Stone and is on their way to Frogmorton.
*This includes 19 miles covered by my Elf (see below)

As for me, I'm heading for the Brandywine Bridge with Bilbo.

Arandiel

Miles covered this week: 8
Cumulative miles: 37
Goal: There and Back Again!

I told my 10-year-old daughter (my Elf) about the Challenge, and she would like to join in. At her age, I don't let her have any internet accounts, though, so I'd like to post her miles for her. Is that okay with other folks on the thread? If it's okay, her mileage looks like this:

My Elf
Miles covered this week: 19
Cumulative miles: 38
Goal: Group Challenge

The Éowyn Challenge/Walk to Rivendell (and beyond) is a Middle-Earth-related fitness walk that began in March 2003, and has been going on with walkers around the world ever since. TORn's Walk is open to all people and healthy types of activity. Please visit the
Éowyn Challenge site, especially the main page and the Walk page, for more information. Useful links, including mileage charts compiled by the late Karen Wynn Fonstad, are on the Tools page.

I think it's great [In reply to] Can't Post

that your elf wants to join in! I think 'the more the merrier' is the best policy here. I don't know about dwarves and wizards, but hobbits like walking in company!
My tally for this week is rather low I'm afraid, (I am a wheelchair user, so it's slow and steady here). Although the high winds where I am in the UK are making downhill easier Smile Let's hope there are more downhills on the way to Rivendell!

Miles this week: 5
Cumulative: 6

Slow week, but new footers! [In reply to] Can't Post

The first is the original, with the wresting dancers. The last one is the Ministry of Silly Walks sketch from Monty Python. Hopefully the other activities are fairly clear, but feel free to ask if there are questions. Use them in your signatures if you want to help promote the walk. The more walkers we get, the less walking we all have to do to get there Tongue

I had a busy weekend and a slow week of work-outs this week. Way too many days off!

Miles this week: 8.6
Miles since September 8th: 90.6

Good for the elfling. The more the merrier!

As for myself, I've been knocked back with a nasty cold, so only a few miles for me this week.

3.4 miles this week

So good for you, and may the next wind be strong enough to blow you UP the hills (and then die down when you want to go against it...)

I remember visiting a few windy spots in Britain [In reply to] Can't Post

"windy" being an understatement - at Avebury, the wind was strong enough my friends and I could stay upright even when we threw all our weight into it!

And I'd say wheeling takes a lot more stamina than walking!

Howdy Walkers and Lurkers! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm here at my Mom's for till Sunday, so I know I'm not going to get much walking or activities in... unless we can figure the mileage for trips to the kitchen and working the tv remote ;) But I did get some mileage in before leaving. I also messed up on my mileage added to the Eowyn Shields page, so I won't be updating that this week.

Had a GLORIOUS time at Lake Michigan last Friday! Storms and winds and waves kicking up as high as 15 feet!! AWESOME!!

Gotta fly now... but I'm delighted that my Elf ;) (nickname? *snigger*) has come on board! *waves madly* I'll come visit everyone's walks when I get home on Sunday!

Till then... keep on truckin' everyone!! and have a GREAT weekend :)

Miles covered this week: 8
Cumulated miles: 38 [since first started challenge. forgot to post before :( ]

Take care :)

Well, with the kitchen remodel going on at my house, [In reply to] Can't Post

I made it to the rec center exactly once last week, and did not even walk on my road. Bleh. These people are testing my patience. Today the sheet rockers came and left it tragically dusty, plus, they left my front door wide open when they left! Fortunately, we live out in the country on a somewhat un-busy street, but still! Needless to say, we are spending the night tonight with Grandma and Grandpa Eruvande to avoid the dust. Grrr! Mad

So put me down for a grand total of 7 miles.
Cumulative miles 87.

I'm just keeping my eyes on the prize: a new fabulously awesome kitchen. Soon, soon, soon. Crazy

And suddenly the Tornadoes saw afar off a greenlight, as it were a cloud with a living heart of flame;
and they knew that this was no vision only, but that PJ had made a new thing: The Hobbit, the Film that Is.

We have just had our bathroom redone. A much smaller job than your kitchen I am sure, but with many of the same problems. It will be worth it in the end, honestly! Hope it's all looking bright and shiny soon. Smile
