a new user in need of redirection? Can't Post

I just notice a new user, Rhengyr (not sure if I spelled that right), has posted a thread in the LOTR movie boardabout some collectibles he's selling on ebay . Shouldn't that be in the gaming and collecting?

Edit: oops, it's spelled "Rheynger." Sorry!

Thanks! I moved it to [In reply to] Can't Post

Gaming and Collecting.

Note for the next time: While it was easy to find this particular post, it's easier for us if you provide a link. Sometimes we can't respond so quickly, and the post that needs attention will drop down the board and it will be harder for us to find it.

Thanks again!Smile

actually, I'm not sure how to make a "clicky" link. Is there a tutorial or anything in the FAQs?

How to make a clicky link [In reply to] Can't Post

1) Go to the page you want to link to and copy (Edit->Copy) the web address in your browser.

2) Begin typing your new post up through the words you want the user to be able to click on.

3) Select the words you want the user to be click on, then hit the little button on the toolbar in the post that looks like a series of 3 chain links (in my browser, it is the very right-most icon on the toolbar right above where I'm typing now.

4) A little window will pop up. Paste the web address from Step #1 into that window* and hit "submit".

5) Submit your post and then sit back and enjoy both a soothing beverage and the feeling of being a nearly all-powerful web guru.

*A caution on step 4 - the window that pops up comes preloaded with the "http://" that nearly all web addresses start with. The most common mistake I see is that people tend to paste the web address directly after this, resulting in an address that looks like "http://http://coolpage.com" and that will work for exactly no one. You have to either delete the pre-loaded http:// or not include it when you copy the address in step 1.

Happy linking!

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn.

Easy! [In reply to] Can't Post

My settings are that my Post Style is Markup, and I'm using Advanced Editor.

First, get your link. You can link to a post by copying the link from the top of the page. For example, the link to this post is:

http://newboards.theonering.net/...arent_post_id=388633

If you have those settings, look at the right side of the editing bar - do you see a little chain link sign? Highlight the text where you want to embed a link. Then click on the chain and a pop-up window will appear with a white box starting with "http://" Delete the http:// and enter your link (or you can copy/paste it). Click on Submit and you're good to go!

Another URL is use [In reply to] Can't Post

is the Copy Shortcut link in the avatar box of the post. This is especially handy in long threads, and for those who view them in flat mode.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
