39,000 petitions for The Hobbit Can't Post

Fun fact

20 minutos, a Spanish entertainment online magazine reported on August 13 the note of Shaye saying he'd like Jackson to be involved in The Hobbit.

The thing, according to the article, is that MGM has received 39,000 petitions for Jackson to direct The Hobbit.

Article here (it's in Spanish, sorry): http://www.20minutos.es/...eter/jackson/hobbit/

Let it be heard! We want Jackson for The Hobbit!

And... [In reply to] Can't Post

There's this:

Quote

Bob Shaye, head of New Line Cinema, has told The Los Angeles Times his studio - which Jackson had sued for profits from The Lords of The Rings - was in talks with Jackson's representatives in a bid to mend fences and get him to direct The Hobbit.

Excellent! Thanks for the link. [In reply to] Can't Post

I don't speak Spanish, so this was a nice alternative.

Quick translation [In reply to] Can't Post

Hadn't had the time to do it, but here is the translation:

Peter Jackson is a possibily for the Hobbit one again.

(In bullets):
  • A lawsuit over profit from the Lord of the Rings confronted Jackson and New Line.
  • Now, New line wants to make up with Jackson.
  • New Line is teh temporary owner of the rights to The Hobbit.
  • The project was initially commended to Sam Raimi (that's what t says, though we know that's not necessarily true.)

Bob Shaye, one of the cofounders of New Line Cinema has apporached Jackson in an attempt to have him direct the big screen adaptation of Tolkien's The Hobbit, the prelude to the Lord of the Rings.

Shaye's quote here. The one that says he'd want Jackson creatively involved in some way in the movie.

Peter Jackson had been denied to film what is considered to be the prequel to the great Tolkien trilogy, after the dispute, which involved legal action, a lawsuit from Wingnut Films against New Line, over profit of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

Just recently, after the box office success of the Spiderman trilogy, Sam Raimi was the frontliner to fill in for the new zealander director.

The fans want Jackson

Shaye's words are trying to win back Jackson for his cause. Peter has always expressed his interest in doing this apatation, and probably, conceiving it in two films.

Metro Goldwyn Mayer will also be involved in the film, has received 39,000 petitions asking for Jackson to direct The Hobbit.

Additionally, british actor Ian McKellen has stated he'd be willing to become Gandalf once again.

An according prequel

The Hobbit was published in 1937. Although the action take splace several decades before the Lord of the Rings, Gandalf and Gollum appear, as well as Bilbo, the protagonist of a journey to find the treasure stolen by Smaug, the dragon who invaded a dwarven kingdom.

As you see nothing new, just that particular fact. Wink

Let it be heard! We want Jackson for The Hobbit!

We can only hope . . . [In reply to] Can't Post

All we can do at this point is just hope that Pete will be given the position to make The Hobbit. Nonetheless, I think luck is on our side.
