"Hobbit's Drinking Song"
|
Can't Post
|
|
The last poem of my old parody poem's I'm going to post... unless I track down Galadriel singing the "Queen of the Night" Aria Hobbits' Drinking Song By Gerontius (after Monty Python's Drinking Song) Ungoliant was a real pissant Who was very rarely stable. Butterbur, Butterbur: He would often slur But could drink you under the table. Boromir Could drink more beer Than poor departed Deagol And Denethor Would be on the floor If he had a drink with Smeagol There's nothing Eru Couldn't tell you 'Bout the raising of the wrist. Saruman, himself, was permanently pissed. Bombadil, Of his own free will, On half a pint of shandy Was particularly ill. Bilbo, they say, Could stick it away, Half a crate of whiskey every day. Hammerhand, Hammerhand Was a flaming firebrand, Sam was fond of his stout, And Galadriel Would be drinking well "When other lights go out." Yes Saruman himself is particularly missed A lovely little wizard, but a bugger when he's pissed.

would be drinking well "when other lights went out". Hysterical! You're a genius, Gerontius.

There's nothing Eru Couldn't tell you 'Bout the raising of the wrist. Hudibrastic blasphemy! I love it. I'm sorry for overreacting to the other.
Man is but an ass if he go about to expound this dream.

This clever rewrite inspired me to write my own version with The Hobbit dwarves, keeping more of the Python lines in. Now I have the song stuck in my head, (there's never enough Monty P stuck in my head) Thanks for posting Gerontius.

Good on Galadriel for hanging in there!
