At around 03:43 Peter Jackson and Bifur(?) are standing next to each other both with their hands raised and you can see Bifur's hand is about twice the size of Peter's. And of the crew member standing behind him.

Who thinks they'll go back and cut in scenes of The Hobbit in to Fellowship later on when they release the final ULTIMATE edition? Personally I'd prefer it.

I hope not, because now that you've brought up that possibility, my concern is that instead of having him transform between man and bear, the filmmakers have decided that the character would be in some kind of permanent half-man/half-beast state. So that the image is how he would normally look all the time and not as he would look in the middle of his transformation. Again, I hope that this is not the case at all.

Hummm, lot's of stuff to see. I like Thorin's sword, it almost looks like Conan the Barbarian's, but larger. I can see why Armitage said he was getting tired.
"There is a long road yet," said Gandalf. "But it is the last road," said Bilbo.

You rock! Thank you. I can see a hobbit-sized cooking pot in that first shot :) And whoever wields the mattock looks like he's using the flat end on the troll instead of the pointy end.

Bilbo wore a red vest with brass buttons? Great likeness to Holm, but the costume is a pretty big departure from what we saw in the Prologue. Not to say I hate it, mind you. Quite the opposite.

...that if Balin is 30% shorter than Thorin, then Balin's body double should also be 30% shorter than Thorin's body double. If you look at the photo, it appears that Balin's double is almost as tall as Balin is.

continuity. Freeman is young Bilbo, Holm is old. or did you mean to ask why it matters? Just a matter of preference I suppose.

I'm 100% convinced they changed Bilbo's costume from LOTR because of blue/green reasons. Plaid coats and chromakey are not the best of friends. Too bad, it was a better costume, but what can ya' do?

Your guess, regarding that it could be a photo of Beorn in mid-transformation, may be on the mark. I did a little research on-line and came across the following (unattributed) statement in Wikipedia that "Comments made by Weta workshop indicate that in the adaptation, Beorn's transformation from man to bear will be a major special effects sequence." So perhaps that really is an image of Beorn in mid-transformation.

While I fully support the idea of using some practical effects in Beorn's transformation, this creature does not have black hair. Beorn has black hair and a black beard. He transforms into a black bear. They HAVE to get that right. Tolkien couldn't have been more clear if he tried.

I would hardly call it a goofy mustache on the otherwise clean face of the LOTR trilogy to insert the man Pete chose to play young Bilbo as the character of young Bilbo.
