Some promising news about 'The Hobbit' on the Home Page Can't Post

Of course New Line is trying to mend fences with PJ, although I have a feeling it's more for financial reasons than personal ones. Still, the fact that they are trying gives me hope that this will get made (by PJ and company) within my lifetime. Sir Ian seems keen to do it, and i'm sure everyone else would be. They've got Weta, they've still got a bit of the Shire left up in Matamata - now to find Bilbo, Thranduil, and the dwarves!

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! [In reply to] Can't Post

Uh, sorry. I got a little carried away after reading the home page. But things are looking a lot brighter than they were back in November and December. What a summer: The Order of the Phoenix, The Deathly Hallows, snippets of The Golden Compass, and now this hopeful news! It's almost too much. I must go and lie down for a few minutes. Maybe take an Excedrin first; no, a cup of tea; better yet, some chocolate. Yeah, that's it - chocolate!

They chortled in their glee! [In reply to] Can't Post

I think I read somewhere once, that Tolkien liked Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky" poem...

Yes, this is in the right direction - is it too soon to start preparing the celebratory squibs and backarappers?

"Only I hear the stones lament them: deep they delved us, fair they wrought us, high they builded us; but they are gone. They are gone. They sought the Havens long ago."
(Avatar pic: The Calanais stones, Isle of Lewis)

"It struck me last night that you might write a fearfully good romantic drama, with as much of the 'supernatural' as you cared to introduce. Have you ever thought of it?"
-Geoffrey B. Smith, letter to JRR Tolkien, 1915

Not at all too soon! [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a nice big box of elf-fountains and goblin-barkers stored in the basement.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

Now all we need is for Robert Shaye to make a public appology for putting PJ and the fans through this crap. Smile
