Where in Middle Earth would you like to live? Can't Post

Suppose you could actually migrate to Middle Earth, in what place would you feel most comfortable spending multiple, if not all, years of your life?

Great poll [In reply to] Can't Post

It was close between Rivendell and Lorien, but Rivendell won out for me.

I love seeing the answers to this one. [In reply to] Can't Post

It's always been Rivendell for me - Bilbo's description which I won't even try to quote from memory was always powerful.

Good one, Stapper.

(If anyone says "I'll stick to where I am now" I'll be very surprised!)

Rivendell [In reply to] Can't Post

Where the biggest and best library in all Middle-earth is located. No contest.

I love where I live now, and that's how I voted, [In reply to] Can't Post

but there are lots of places in ME I'd love to visit: Rivendell, Lothlorien, Minas Tirith, and so on. But the one that has always grabbed my fancy for some reason is Woodhall, the little hobbit village whose lights show up through the trees of Woody End when the hobbits meet Gildor. Looking at those warm windows from the outside has always made me want to go there.

It is lonely here in Moria [In reply to] Can't Post

I assume the Moria I voted for is the city in all its splendor, not the balrog/orc infested Moria during the journey of the Fellowship.

Can you imagine the grand city of Moria? I can! Shocked

Lorien for me. [In reply to] Can't Post

Just think of all those trees! Although not being too keen on heights, not sure what I think about flet living. But Galadriel would be there. I'd be OK.

Ditto the library, [In reply to] Can't Post

plus a flush lavatory system (it's gotta be with all those waterfalls).

I don't want to image what Lothlorien's system would be.

Me too! *After* the war. [In reply to] Can't Post

In fact, in my own little fantasy world in my head, I'm one of Thranduil's kin who came to Ithilien and helped restore it.

Ithilien's my choice too [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been trying to get some of the plants from Ithilien for my garden. So far I've got a bay and a tiny olive tree. But hey, it's a start! Evil

What we in the Army referred to as a "cathole."

Hey but at least you know you'd never run out of leaves.

Rivendell, but not the Rivendell of the movies. [In reply to] Can't Post

I imagine it as sheltered, the structure made of brick or dark wood, the inside decorated in warm colors. The open and airy design of the Rivendell of the movies seems more like Lothlorien to me.

Rivendell. [In reply to] Can't Post

Years ago I thought I'd want to live in Lorien. But I really don't like heights. And I love waterfalls.

But, Valinor wasn't on the list (other?). I don't view it as "heaven", but somewhere where the folks are there in their physical bodies.

Yeah, it was "The Las Homely House" after all. [In reply to] Can't Post

And I wouldn't describe the Rivendell of the movies as "homely". Well, maybe for an elf.

Very tough indeed [In reply to] Can't Post

Its between The Shire and Rivendell. Although, who wouldnt want to live in Minas Tirith?

Shire takes it though, the hobbit-holes are brilliant, the whole place would be a joy to reside in..

Cheers,
Andrew

Had to be Rohan I'm afraid Smile.........although....everytime you walk through the gates of Imladris (in LotRO) and look down into Rivendell it takes your breath away & The Shire is stunning too, but I'd miss the plains of Rohan.

where in ME would I wish to live [In reply to] Can't Post

HeartI would love to visit my elven kin in Caras Galadhon but I would expect to be able to take visits with the Minas Tirith library and see Imladris, see Rohans' Golden Hall spend a spooky night at Weather Top and visit the Dwarves in Moria (collecting some mithril along as a souvenier) Finally I would petition Galadriel to be able to spend the summer in Bag End drinking old winyards and visiting Barliman in the Prancing Pony!! Hye sounds like a plan...anyone going to join me?
