**Founders Day - Video Retrospective** Can't Post

After twelves years of constant coverage of everything Tolkien, TheOneRing.net stands as the top site for a social gathering for fans of the late Professor and his work. In honor of Founders Day comes the One Slideshow to (hopefully) show many of the great memories that the members of TORn have had in the past years. Click on the link below and watch at your desired video quality. I hope you enjoy. Smile

That was great! [In reply to] Can't Post

It was fun recognizing so many faces...including a few I've met and lots more I'd love to meet one day. Thanks for that! Cool

Silverlode

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

kewl! [In reply to] Can't Post

But... we almost need those images in an online photo album (set to a similar privacy setting as this video?) so we can see some of those pictures for longer than a second!

great job.

I have to say... my spur of the moment favorite is the one with two people holding their hands up like the Argonath. I'd have to go back to see if I know who they were.

Wow! Our very own family movie!

This was a LONG time in the making I know -- but worth the wait. I hereby nominate you for the Founders Day Hall of Fame. In your honor, I also decree that we should reprise this video every Founders Day. (No one said I couldn't make decrees, so there, I made one!)

Between slow computers, the boards locking up, and out of town guests, I could barely get on to enjoy the festivities here. I am so glad I was able to stop back and take in this midnight show (for my time zone).

Thanks so much for this great Grand Finale Gift! It was really splendid to see the spirit of this place in pictures. Oh the cleverness of you, indeed! Well done and THANKS!

*grabs popcorn for second showing -- and third...and fourth...and...hey, I could watch this as much as the LotR films...I love films with a happy ending. Smile

And thanks to Magpie, at one point my heart almost stopped beating as my mind went "ME" Cool

You know, this was an absolute delight, [In reply to] Can't Post

and the music was just perfect. It was so festive and happy. I just had to see all those beaming faces over and over.

One Ringer i don't care how long this took. It was a great surpriZe*, Thanks for being persistent in finding a way to see your way through to the end, because in the end you made MORE smiles than we saw on that video and that is saying somethingLaugh.

You did good, thank you very muchly:).

PS Can you get me the phone number of that hefty woman with the thick eyebrows? I am in love.

*shows level of surprizity involved.

''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III

May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings!

In the air, among the clouds in the sky
Here is where the birds of Manwe fly
Looking at the land, and the water that flows
The true beauty of earth shows
With the stars of Varda lighting my way
In all the realms this is where I stay
In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

Do we walk in legends or on the green earth in the daylight?

A man may do both. For not we but those who come after will make the legends of our time. The green earth, say you? That is a mighty matter of legend, though you tread it under the light of day!
