**Countdown to Founders Day -- 11 Pipes a-piping Pun Thread** Can't Post

It's time to Pipe Up about Founders Day -- TORn's official "holiday"!

Founders Day is celebrated every April 26 on this site -- the anniversary of the site going "live" as far as we can tell. It is named in honor of the four wonderful folks who established the site, leading to the creation of this great community.

This year's Founders Day marks TORn's 12th Anniversary -- and so we are counting down to it with our own version of the 12 Days of Christmas.

Today is Day 11 -- 11 Pipes a-Piping!

So, who's pipe would you most like to light?

1. Gandalf 's?

"I have no ember-y of this pipe.."

2. Merry's?

"We're cobbits, fire folk, little pipe-le!"

3. Strider's?

"This is my pipe of many flames.."

4. Bilbo's?

"This will be a light to remember..."

5. Gimli's?

"Pipe meat off the bone!"

6. JRRT's?

"Ashter of the Cindery"

7. Peter Jackson's?

"Let's go there, and tobacco again!"

Or would you prefer...

8. Studying with Faramir, the wizard's pipel?**

9. Some of Eowyn's un-pipe-ular soup?**

10. Hanging out with Pipe-pin?**

11. Roasting marshmallows with this piping-hot pop?**

Get into practice for the party by adding your own smoke-joke to today's countdown thread...and join us for all the pun on April 26 -- see you on Founders Day!

Happiness: money matters, but less than we think and not in the way that we think. Family is important and so are friends, while envy is toxic -- and so is excessive thinking. Beaches are optional. Trust is not. Neither is gratitude. - The Geography of Bliss by Eric Weiner as summarized by Lily Fairbairn.

Elven by name, Hobbit by nature

'Road lead ever on and on
down from the door where it began
now far ahead the road has gone
down from where all began' -FOTR-

and through all the world has changed
the ages come and go with time
and yet those remain unchanged
unto they journey westward
over the sea...

and through it all we remain strong and true
for eternity is bonds unbroken
beyond the sea...

into the realm of TORN!

wheres breakfast?
- which one??!

Was the world being born what called me...?
At the bottom of the deep sea, I could hear a voice.

"Puff the Magic Dragon" can't hold a candle to Erebor's "Smog". [In reply to] Can't Post

"Ashter of the Cindery" - oh, gosh, weaver, how did you ever come up with that! LOL! Laugh

"I desired dragons with a profound desire"

"It struck me last night that you might write a fearfully good romantic drama, with as much of the 'supernatural' as you cared to introduce. Have you ever thought of it?"

And suddenly the Tornadoes saw afar off a greenlight, as it were a cloud with a living heart of flame;
and they knew that this was no vision only, but that PJ had made a new thing: The Hobbit, the Film that Is.

For instance, on the planet Earth, man had always assumed that he was more intelligent than dolphins because he had achieved so much -- the wheel, New York, wars, and so on -- while all the dolphins had ever done was muck about in the water having a good time. But conversely, the dolphins had always believed that they were far more intelligent than man, for precisely the same reasons. -- Douglas Adams

Weaver's 'Lucky Strike!' [In reply to] Can't Post

No, actually it is a matter of skill, and a lot of heart and soul.

As far as smoking, i will just light the fire in the hearth, because it just nasty wet and cold out today. It will bring added cheer to this piping hot thread and coming fine celebration.

Cheers to our Weaver!Smile

''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III

May the grace of ManwŰ let us soar with eagle's wings!

In the air, among the clouds in the sky
Here is where the birds of Manwe fly
Looking at the land, and the water that flows
The true beauty of earth shows
With the stars of Varda lighting my way
In all the realms this is where I stay
In the realm of ManwŰ S˙limo
