garden variety flowerosophy? Good man that GAndy.
''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings! discovery of the scientific world. I wonder if they will ever solve that dilemma. But then there is dark energy and dark matter. Perhaps the puzzle piece lies somewhere there.

We have something of an Afghan population here, but no restaurant that I know of. I harvest the seeds every fall, because that's the coriander you would buy in a jar in the spice aisle, only mine's (almost) free!! In the summer, I put the leaves in chili, or when I cook this tomato sauce-(quest)-thing with pinto beans my family loves. I throw a few seeds in (a little goes a long way!) when I brown chicken breasts and then simmer them in chicken broth with lemon juice added.

Loud are the bells of Norwich and the people come and go Here by the tower of Julian I tell them what I know Ring out bells of Norwich and Let the winter come and go All shall be well again I know Love like the yellow daffodil is coming through the snow Love like the yellow daffodil is Lord of all I know Ring out.... Ring for the yellow daffodil, the flower in the snow Ring for the yellow daffodil and tell them what I know Ring out... (sung as chorus) All shall be well I'm telling you Let the winter come and go All shall be well again I know. This is the best audio sample I can find by the artist that I have it by. The harmonies on this are great and you only get a taste of them from this sample.

Haven't participated in Fiesta Friday yet...

Honestly, I've been overwhelmed looking at past Fiesta Friday threads with how many posts they get, so I've been a little reluctant to participate, but I thought I'd try. It seems like, and tell me if I'm wrong, people write about their week and offer friendly, supportive comments too each other, as well as interesting beverages. Looks like a lot of people are still in the depths of winter, but here in the San Francisco area, we're having a bit of a sudden heat wave after a few weeks of rain and hail. It's nice, but now I have no idea what to wear, I've gotten so used to clothes for a colder climate! I'm adjusting to my new full time job! (haven't had one of those in a good long while.) I got my first full paycheck yesterday, and I'm completely in shock at how much money is in my bank account. If only I didn't owe so much money from being one of the many affected by this crappy economy, it would be much more fun. Strangely, with this new job, I'm moving back in with my mom... how often does that happen? But my mom and I have always been close, and I'm glad to live with her, as I worry about her health. I'm tired of moving though. I'm presently nannying for a 2 1/2 year old boy and a 5 month old girl. They're wonderful kids... the little girl is just such a positive happy baby, and the boy is pretty smart. But being a 2 1/2 year old, sometimes he can be a challenge. He spent a half hour today crying for applesauce, even though I told him that he could have it. He was so expecting me to tell him no that he couldn't listen to me properly. I actually had to give him a bit of a "time out" (I hate time outs), because he couldn't calm down. When he did calm down finally, I explained to him that yes, he could have applesauce, he just needed to give me a moment because I was trying to help his sister take a nap. It's a good thing I love kids, because that would have driven me nuts if I didn't. I'm still trying to figure out the logistics of getting back into my chosen career of counseling, but I just need to be sure I can make an income to live on while finishing out my hours towards licensure. This is really frustrating to me. I don't want to give up this career that I love and am really good at because of money. Yeah, it eventually pays at some point, but I need to survive in the present.

They spread out plenty without my help, but I do sometimes pot them up for others after a year or two or if they're getting in the way. I'll even let a few old leaves on the mother plants to shelter the less far-flung seedlings for the first year. I never know what will fall out of hybrid or will cross, but I really hope some of the babies under this one amount to something before I'm forced to divide it.

What fun! Actually, they're as much fun as they are frustrating, but days like that make you wonder . . . And they do find ways to turn both you and themselves upside down. I once gave a cookie to a 3 year old I was babysitting. He said "your welcome" so I said (before I could stop myself) "thank you"! I know what you mean about hanging on until until the real career takes off (I'm a musician)--but yours is in great demand (and so is the "nannying"!). I bet it will be fine, given time.

Fiesta Friday is the weekly general "chat" thread. It's been happening since - well, as I understand it, since the earliest days of TORn! Many have tended the bar over the years; at present Altaira is our esteemed Barkeeper, and she has three substitutes to fill in when need be (gramma, Eventides, and me). The doors are unlocked around noon EST (or EDT). The drinks and nibbles, of course, are virtual, and thus calorie-free! Being a nanny is fun, but challenging, especially when one child is in those "terrible two's"! I hope things work out so you can keep on track with the counseling. Do you have much further to go, to get licensed?

(my adaptation of an excerpt from an online lectionary, no author)
The Lady Juliana was born about 1342; when she was thirty, she had a series of fifteen visions, or "showings," in which she was led to contemplate the Passion of Christ, which brought her great peace and joy. She became a contemplative anchoress (hermit), living in a small hut near the church in Norwich, devoting the rest of her life to prayer and contemplation. She wrote a book called Revelations of Divine Love, available in modern English in a Penguin Paperback edition. During her lifetime, she became known as a counselor, whose advice combined spiritual insight with common sense, and many persons came to speak with her. Since her death about 1417, many more have found help in her writings. A matter that greatly troubled her was the fate of those who through no fault of their own had never heard the Gospel. She never received a direct answer to her questions about them, except to be told that whatever God does is done in Love, and therefore "that all shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of thing shall be well."
In my opinion, JRRT had probably read Dame Julian and agreed with her view of God's love, such as this statement: "If there is anywhere on earth a lover of God who is always kept safe, I know nothing of it, for it was not shown to me. But this was shown: that in falling and rising again we are always kept in that same precious love." ElanorTX p.s. It is said that she is the patroness of cats.

I'm trying to move to the Bay Area now and I too could use licensures as in IT a degree (which I have) will get you PROMOTED but it's certifications/licensures that get you the job in the first place! How very cool though (I'm ALL about kids! ) I've no doubt at all that soon you'll be back doing what you love - sooner than you dare hope! You sussed out Fiesta pretty durn well! Bravo! My problem is that the seedlings seem to fall into the gravel path next to the mother plant and so have to be moved. One year I dug up 26 babies.

Here's something to help you in your transition from the cold to warmer weather :) I'm so happy you're here... and I totally relate to what you're facing. I'm glad you're able to stay with your Mom... especially since it seems like a right choice for her benefit as well as yours. That a great idea. Especially when you're trying to get on your feet. Maybe this will help give you the chance to stay with what you want to do for your work...what you sound like you really love to do :D That's a hard thing to figure out for most people... what they love to do... and then have the opportunity to do it. Keep at it and see what happens. I find that doors open that lead you to where you're meant to be... and it sounds like those doors have already been opening for you and you've wisely walked through them. :) I moved 22 times in 20 years, so I know what it's like when it feels sort of like being homeless. No permanent place to feel settled in. But now, with your Mom, maybe you can take a break from that :) You hang in there!! And well done with those children :) They are so lucky to have someone who cares about how they're feeling. *hugs* See you at next week's Fiesta ;)
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world. TORn's Observations Lists Unused Scenes
