Flattop. I said "holiday snap" but it wasn't really a holiday, just a weekend. I was visiting one of the many places we scattered some of my Mom's ashes; our family climbed this mountain when I was a kid and I returned with her as an adult several times. I like photos of my boots on mountaintops because then I can sit in my office and imagine I'm back on the mountaintop. :-)

The entire hike is here. I think I've posted it on TORn before.

You've got to love feet-in-photo pics. [In reply to] Can't Post

I've got one of my feet in front of a pool in Fiji - good times. :)

I've got a LOTR movie scene on mine:

Good ol' Gandalf. :)

I think I'll call it an artwork [In reply to] Can't Post

I still have the Weta Christmas Card, Gandalf and Bilbo in the sleigh with the dwarves pulling. I liked it so much I put it up there and I'm still not bored by it, so until that happens it stays up there.

Gandalf when he cones back as the White in Fangorn. But instead of his staff he's got a big ol' gun. The caption says "MUTICLASSING-because wizards run out of spells." Laugh

It's always 'other' for me [In reply to] Can't Post

I have wallpaper changer which is set to change my wallpaper everyday. It's a large folder of images that is part LOTR, part haiku poetry set to images, part stunning nature images, and a few TV/movie images that I found particularly striking (Avatar, Books of Kells, Dr. Who) and one of the Vienna (?) opera that Doug Adams took and It thought was really beautiful.

I just looked to see which wallpaper was up today. ha.. it's a classic:

From RotK, [In reply to] Can't Post

As Gandalf and Pippin ride over the hilltop and behold Minas Tirith. A background that I am quite happy with, needless to say. Cool

several [In reply to] Can't Post

My work computer is just a photo of a cloudy sky.

My laptop is a photo of the fountain at my alma mater.

And my desktop is a photo of Venice, my favorite city, taken from the top of one of the bell towers, with the foreground showing the church of San Zaccaria (right next to where I lived for a couple months).

(I voted last night for "iconic city/building" since I was on the desktop.)

This isn't the exact San Zaccaria picture, but similar perspective: http://www.shutterstock.com/...orgio-dei-grece.html San Zaccaria is in the front of that picture, with the flat white facade and the small dome up top. I lived for a couple months in an apartment on the opposite side of that square ("campo" in Venetian), the window in my bedroom looked up at the church. Even attended a service there one week despite not being Catholic and not really understanding much Italian.

love that image [In reply to] Can't Post

and it's fun to see screen caps of people's desktops.

Remember those old ones of Sauron's desktop, et. al? Those are fun just to see the difference in desktops back then. It would be fun to update those visual jokes.

I have dual monitors. [In reply to] Can't Post

To fill them up I have a pseudo-panoramic photo I took on a recent trip to Red Rock Canyon, just west of Las Vegas, Nevada.

Because I use Windows as my OS, I downloaded DisplayFusion to stretch the photo and avoid duplicate desktops. So far it works well!

I spend equal time on two machines: [In reply to] Can't Post

At work: Last Sight of Hobbiton by Ted Nasmith. It is my favorite of Teds work.
At home I recently changed to a screen capture from Fellowship of the Ring. It is an interior of a dimly lit Bag End. It shows the door standing half open.

I have several. [In reply to] Can't Post

At work I have a picture, called First Rose, by artist James C. Christensen.

My laptop has some Michelangelo art montage or other that came with the computer.

My old desktop has a hunky, shirtless firefighter from the 2007 Colorado Firefighters charity calendar. Heart

And this computer, my new desktop, has a Spitzer Space Telescope theme, so it rotates various images from the telescope.
