Official Hobbit blog goes live! Can't Post

Just as cameras are about to roll on two Peter Jackson movies based on J.R.R. Tolkien's "The Hobbit," the official blog has gone live and online. Brought to us by "The Hobbit Team", it features a photo of the cast including Martin Freeman which will probably help the world become familiar with its new heroes of Middle-earth.

The site was kind enough to include TOR's latest "Hobbit In 5," on the site as well. We will watch the site carefully leading up to the production of the two films, scheduled for release in 2012 and 2013. You can find the site right here. For fans, the production signals an end to long years of waiting and anticipation filled with highs and lows. The story of how the movie got to this point is high drama all its own. And of course, TheOneRing will follow the production and beyond.

Clarification [In reply to] Can't Post

Is this blog tied directly to the production, or is it another fansite?

Also [In reply to] Can't Post

I wonder if the logo on the blog is the official one for the movies, or just fan-made.

Either way, it's really cool.

It's the very same! [In reply to] Can't Post

I had that site bookmarked.

In all honesty, I did not like the look of the old site, and for some reason, I don't like the look of it now. This whole "community" aspect they're trying to get going spoils it for me; I'd have preferred a traditional website dedicated to the films. It's just a personal preference though... I'd prefer elegant presentation of information over a blog with pictures and videos with people allowed to comment and all that jazz. I'm sure many will appreciate the exact same thing I don't though. So that's just as well! I'm just glad the films are being made Smile

Interesting [In reply to] Can't Post

When I was reading the info before clicking the link I thought it said there was a new screenshot of the cast in their movie costumes, I read it wrong and got excited for nothing. But this is still good news.

If possible, [In reply to] Can't Post

why not place a direct link on the official Lord of the Rings website, http://www.lordoftherings.net/index.html on the left of LOTR, Something like "To "The Hobbit" Site"? There's enough room for that, and it makes http://www.thehobbitblog.com/ even more official.

I think... [In reply to] Can't Post

...we have our first glimpse of the logo of the movie there. I like how they kept a similar font but made the letters more golden and slightly unevenly sized, as befits the more whimsical and "fairy-tale" nature of the story.

I guess that could be the official title card. [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm not too crazy about it, maybe because I've been staring at mine too long? The design of that site has always been lacking, maybe it'll get up and running now with the proper design and funding. I guess it's a compliment, but to me, it just looks like they ripped off TORn by posting the Hobbit in 5 video. Maybe the site was sold? Didn't WB register new domain names with the rumored movie titles?
-edit: Guess WB just registered the movie titles.

This... [In reply to] Can't Post

looks like a fan site, or may be a poorly executed production site. They are even using wordpress. Understanding that they are just now starting production, I was just expecting a bit more in the overall 'product' (not the content mind you).

Really? [In reply to] Can't Post

Nowhere does it mention Warner Brothers, New Line, 3 Foot 7, or any other official production company. It looks to me very much like it is a fan site masquerading as an official site. Can I ask how you know that it is the "official production site"?

Okay [In reply to] Can't Post

I remain unconvinced, but I don't really care that much, so I won't push it.
