go through the most thorough training imaginable. My brother and his wife have SAR German Shepherds and they travel all over the US getting various kinds of training. Their confidence comes from their faith in their handlers. I am so glad to hear of all the Tornsibs who've been so thoughtful as to check in with us on such a horrible occasion. THANK YOU! I agree, we are quite a community. I dearly hope those aftershocks stop once and for all. HUGS! (((((((((((((((((((((Sunflower)))))))))))))))))))))) HUGS to you too, my dear.

Everyone but Pioneer is known safe. Your husband and co-workers must have had to deal with a collapse of some sort there. Were the co-workers originally there from the beginning or were they ones that made the hole and entered in from the outside? Blessings are found here indeed.
''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings! In the air, among the clouds in the sky Here is where the birds of Manwe fly Looking at the land, and the water that flows The true beauty of earth shows With the stars of Varda lighting my way In all the realms this is where I stay In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

The Salvation Army has relaunched its Canterbury Earthquake Appeal - I donated earlier today and it was really easy. You just need a credit card. I think Red Cross NZ may be doing an appeal too but their website's not loading for me right now.

His co workers were in the building but a different area. They were all on the ground floor and part of the floor above them fell in causing openings in the outter wall. A large bookcase had fallen over the entranceway blocking that route out. They were lucky they could get out. Hubby said outside was like a vision from hell.

Oh, my how terrifying! And how lucky that the file cabinet didn't seriously hurt your husband. I'm so relieved that you and yours are OK.

I've just been into work and can now see that the building will have to be demolished. There's liquefaction and all the books on the ground are drenched. We will have to urgently look for another building ... but where?? A student that worked for us last year started work a couple of weeks ago at CTV. Things don't look good - he hasn't been found yet. Family are devastated.

a camera has been lowered and rescuers can see 15 people alive. I don't know which building though. Try to have hope, Nienna.

A very wet cat came home at midnight. I left him alone at home this morning when I drove to work to assess the damage - he's been very clingy since I got back. We have no running water but a kind neighbour who was at home when the earthquake struck ran the water into the bath and then gave out bottles of water to neighbours when they arrived home. By the time we got home there was no running water so it was gratefully accepted. It's great to have a cup of tea occasionally.

I've been sick the last couple days, so I didn't know about any of this. Thanks to our TORnadoes for checking in. It seems like that would be the least of your worries, but your friends here really appreciate knowing you are all okay. I hope things settle down soon. Please be careful!
And suddenly the Tornadoes saw afar off a greenlight, as it were a cloud with a living heart of flame; and they knew that this was no vision only, but that PJ had made a new thing: The Hobbit, the Film that Is.

when things like this happen and the most you can do for anyone is worry about them and hope that everyone is alright. It is good to hear that some of our NZ TORnsibs are well and mostly unscathed, but it's still sad and worrisome knowing there are some people who are hurt and suffering (either physically or materially) and some who were victims of the sometimes cruel forces of nature. I hope that all turns out well and no more casualties are reported. *Sending love and healing thoughts to everyone affected*

Thank God you're okay. Fate had you home... I'm so glad. But what your husband went through is horrific. The goodness and bravery of his co-workers... of so many co-workers and passers-by who stopped to help while in danger of more debris from aftershocks and unstable buildings has saved so many. I'm so sorry for this. *lingering hug* I'm so glad you and all our friends are okay. My prayers are with you all for the aftershocks to stop and the healing to begin.
I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world. TORn's Observations Lists Unused Scenes

The day the earth roared Long, but worth a read, it's very touching
..The land of long-forgotten name: ......no man may ever anchor near; ..No steering star his hope may aim, ......for nether Night its marches drear, ..And waters wide no sail may tame, ......with shores encircled dark and sheer. ..O! Haven where my heart would be! ......the waves beat upon thy bar ..For ever echo endlessly, ......when longing leads thy thought afar
