I grew up saying Car-mull [In reply to] Can't Post

but in my head these days I pronounce it car-a-mel, so it comes out of my mouth both ways.

Option #1, usually. [In reply to] Can't Post

With occasional lapses into Option #2.

This reminds me of a hilarious commercial I saw a few years ago, for a Nestle Crunch caramel bar, I think. Shaqulle O'Neal and another young man were discussing the correct pronunciation of "caramel," Shaq insisting it was CARE-a-mel, and his friend that it was CAR-mel.

"CARE-a-mel, like it's spelled," Shaq said.

"Whatever you say, Sha-KWILL," his friend capitulated.

Hehe.

Even though I know it's spelled [In reply to] Can't Post

CARE-ah-mel I shudder when people say it that way. I've always said it car-mel "always will" as Bilbo says. I think the reason I hate it that way is cuz I knew someone I didn't really care for at all that said it that way. I mean at all. So, that may affect my out look. Wink
