Gandalf Watch - McKellen.com Update Can't Post

Thanks to Ringer Kookie for sending in this tip! On wednesday (or around there), Sir Ian McKellen's official website (McKellen.com) made an update to its '2010's Film' section. While we don't have an official press release yet, the update to his website seems to imply he is coming back as Gandalf for 'The Hobbit' films:
THE HOBBIT's, two films, start shooting in New Zealand in February 2011.  Filming will take over a year. Casting in Los Angeles, New York City and London has started.  The script too proceeds.  The first draft is crammed with old and new friends, again on a quest in Middle Earth.

THE HOBBIT
Director: Peter Jackson
Role: Gandalf

Again, we do not have an official press release yet. Afterall, it is a US Holiday and I'm sure the PR team for the films are still recovering from a heaping portion of Turkey. (I know I am!) But light those beacons folks, "Hope is kindled." [McKellen.com]

I like this line.... [In reply to] Can't Post

"...crammed with old and new friends.."

Maybe some brief appearances by some LOTR folks other than those already in The Hobbit. Aragorn practicing with a wooden sword or playing "orcs and dragons", Glorfindel sitting with a radiant glow about him, Legolas joins his father on the spurs of Erebor, Gimli...age 62...joins the 500 dwarves and his father to kill some orc,
etc.

Yes you basically did [In reply to] Can't Post

I posted some weeks back in another thread that the Kckellen site has had this item on it for some time but (and it is a big but) that version still had GDT as D|irector - that means that someone has actively edited it in ths last few days to correct it, rather than just leaving the old info as a 'place-holder'. That must be a good sign at the least!

Hopeful [In reply to] Can't Post

I've been visiting Sir Ian McKellen's site for ages in the hope I might see some news. Unfortunately, I have to agree with the other posters here - he's had this info. up for ages but I agree, someone has changed the Director's name.
