filming the hobbit?? Can't Post

Any of you guys know if the filming of the Hobbit has started yet?

All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.
From the ashes a fire shal be woken,
A light from the shadows shall spring;
Renewed shall be blade that was broken,
The crownless again shall be king.

Freeman said [In reply to] Can't Post

that he will start in january. I know Lotr-actors were some time before shooting began in NZ. So they could bond, train, etc. Well, Freeman has to bond with the dwarves and do some swordtraining, but most of all.. he has to eat.. A lot.

So it is reasonable that the shooting of the Hobbit will start february and the actors will be there earlier.

One thing did confuse me [In reply to] Can't Post

Martin is working from January until Summer (June, July, August), and then again from September until "the end of the year."

He'll be off anywhere from one to three months. Which means he'd be working on these films for nine months. But wasn't this going to be a 14 month shoot?

Guillermo said originally [In reply to] Can't Post

that it was going to be 370 days of shooting.

They will probably condense all Martin Freeman scenes in those 9 months and use the winter to shoot in soundstages, probably all the White Council stuff.

Please, give us back Glorfindel!!!

Perhaps [In reply to] Can't Post

the rest of the time will be spent shooting the White Council and other backstory scenes, as well as scenes in The Hobbit in which Bilbo does not appear, or only his double is needed. They do arrange shooting as efficiently as possible, so that they don't have actors sitting around for days and weeks while they aren't needed.

"Of all faces those of our familiares are the ones both most difficult to play fantastic tricks with, and most difficult really to see with fresh attention. They have become like the things which once attracted us by their glitter, or their colour, or their shape, and we laid hands on them, and then locked them in our hoard, acquired them, and acquiring ceased to look at them.
Creative fantasy, because it is mainly trying to do something else [make something new], may open your hoard and let all the locked things fly away like cage-birds. The gems all turn into flowers or flames, and you will be warned that all you had (or knew) was dangerous and potent, not really effectively chained, free and wild; no more yours than they were you."

Awe yes... [In reply to] Can't Post

that makes sense...he will not have an issue with putting on the weight and becoming plump. He was near perfect size in the movie 'Love Actually'...I'm sure the dwarfs will feed him well! Wink

They All Came Back [In reply to] Can't Post

Ian, Sean Bean, Orlando and the whole cast never stayed in new zealand 24/7. They often came back to shoot due to other films and things. Martin is no different from them. The time from January Till June can film alot of stuff. I mean they could film Most of the battle of the Five Armies during that time for Bilbo is not seen. Um could do the burning of Lake Town as well. Other then The White Council stuff.

I hope [In reply to] Can't Post

they don't delay the filming of the White Council scenes by too much. Several of the actors are getting on a bit...
