link from tv3news http://www.3news.co.nz/The-Hobbit-will-be-filmed-in-NZ/tabid/423/articleID/183394/Default.aspx quote: “I’m please to announce an agreement has been reached between the New Zealand Government and Warner Brothers to enable the two Hobbit movies to be directed by Sir Peter Jackson, to be made New Zealand. “Making the two movies here will not only safe guard work for thousands of New Zealanders but will also allow us to follow the success of the Lord of The Rings trilogy and once again promoting New Zealand on the world stage,” says Mr Key.

I would edit the front page, but I am not yet sure how to, so I'll leave that to one of the admins who I bet is already on it... I seriously leaped out of my chair and hugged my dad tightly. OMG YES! Now I have some emails to send...

NARF since age 8, when I refused to read the Hobbit because the cover looked boring and icky.

Number Two (Warners): "We want tax incentives… tax incentives… tax incentives..." Number Six (John Key): "You won't get it." Number Two (Warners): "By hook or by crook, we will."

Wouldn't it be awesome if PJ made a video addressed directly to TORN and talked about how he feels and what's going to happen now...

* The Government will introduce to Parliament tomorrow legislation to clarify who is a contractor and who is an employee as it relates to the film industry, not any other industry. (*whew*) * The Government will widen the qualifying criteria for the Large Budget Screen Production Fund to improve New Zealand's competitivenes for large movies such as The Hobbit. This includes an additional up to US$7.5m per picture subject to the success of the movies. If the movies do well they get up to $7.5m; if they don't, they won't. (No details were given on what 'doing well' means. Key also declined to specify what this additional money would cover, but I got the impression that marketing would be part of it.) * The Government and Warners Brothers have agreed to work together in a long-term strategic partnership to market New Zealand as a place to make movies. In addition, the Government will work with Peter Jackson to develop appropriately themed material to promote New Zealand to tourists (with this appearing on DVDs and other material); and will work with Time Warner to promote New Zealand across its studio and media outlets. John Key says this will maximise the leverage for New Zealand to promote itself throughout the world as a tourist destination as well as its goods and services.
Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..." Dwarves: "Pretty rings..." Men: "Pretty rings..." Sauron: "Mine's better." "Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.
