Yes Drawn Out [In reply to] Can't Post

This saga is drawn out, ridiculous, and tedious and it's been going on far longer than two days.

King Arthur: Who are you who can summon fire without flint or tinder?
Tim: There are some who call me... Tim?

For some of us yes... [In reply to] Can't Post

You have to understand that some of us have been waiting many years to see this film come to fruition. Some of us decades. This latest obstacle, is one in a long line of many that has delayed the delivery of what is sure to be an automatic classic.

Go easy on Tim.Smile

Don't you think that's a bit extreme, Pioneer? [In reply to] Can't Post

If he reacted like that, it would almost be like a child stomping their feet and having a temper tantrum because Mommy wouldn't buy M&Ms at the cash register. Of course the best case scenario would be for New Zealand, but if it ends up moving elsewhere, regardless of the reason, I am confident that Peter Jackson will step up to the challenge and create something amazing.

Good Morning Vietnam. [In reply to] Can't Post

The NZ Prime Minister's flying off to 'Nam in about 14 hours' time - so hopefully this'll all be sorted out tonight.

I still think The Hobbit will be filmed in 'Zealand. Smile

Well I am back. I hit work and there was a boatload of emergencies so I was unable to get on line. Things are settling down now.

"Warner Bros' main concern" [In reply to] Can't Post

Quote
The Government is almost certain to change the law regarding the definition of a contractor - Warner Bros' main concern.

This is not a new issue. Why hasn't this been addressed in the 5 years since the court case? Why does Warners care whether an actor is a contractor or an employee? Is someone (for instance SAG, wanting a level playing field?) putting pressure on them over this issue?

I agree with Key that it would be unwise to bow too low to outside pressures... no one seems to like that, no matter where they are coming from. The difference between how one outside pressure was dealt with compared to how this latest outside pressure is being met, gives one pause. Where does real power reside?

Just a few more random thoughts, don't mind me.

Hmmm, [In reply to] Can't Post

leaving the eminently capable Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Chris Finlayson (I assume) with Minister for Economic Development (and Emperor of Canterbury) Gerry Brownlee in the hot seat.

I'd prefer Key to remain in the mix, but he isn't leaving a pair of chumps behind him to continue the work.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauron’s master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

The meetings in Premiere House right? [In reply to] Can't Post

because I just picked up a friend from work and drove right past Premiere House and there were quite a few people hanging around the driveway entrance. I live in a suburb called Wadestown which is 2 mins away from Thorndon (where the house is). It's all happening so close, I'm scared.
