That would make more sense [In reply to] Can't Post

As a stop-gap press release i would think this would make more sense. Personally i don't doubt that Richard Armitage, Rob Kazinsky and Aiden Turner auditioned, and received callbacks but for the parts listed- nah, it just doesn't seem plausible. The latest news on this site seems to support my assertation- the now pretty much confirmed Sylvester McCoy hasn't signed his contract, and Mark Hadlow does not confirm in the quotes given that he has been cast in any specific part, though he has had callbacks for four different parts (my guesses are one of them isn't Bard). I would suspect that parts assigned to the younger three are merely 'placeholders' for the benefit of studios and worried investors (who in all probably have no idea who the characters are) and that come the time for the proper 'reveal' we'll be looking at a wholly different Thorin Fili and Kili.

I can hope i suppose.

I think you're right, Patty [In reply to] Can't Post

although the "official" reason was Townsend was too young, there were a few off-the-record comments made that he would not practice with the sword-master and was not a good team player.

Mmmm- I don't care, as long as he's in it! This takes me back... [In reply to] Can't Post

to circa 2004 when I was first introduced to the wonderful smolder of Mr. Armitage via North and South which I discovered thanks to all you wonderful people here at TORn! I have to say, I am eternally grateful for that.

It IS surprising that they cast him as any of the dwarves, but I'm sure he'll do a wonderful job. I have complete and utter trust and only optimism for all of the other casting.

SO PUMPED!!!!!!
