Irish actor Aidan Turner (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm2636108/) may be playing the role of both Fili & Kili I don't have any confirmation or links to prove that yet but there you go.

I hope they don't chose to make Kili and Fili nice looking (for dwarves). There should be no dwarven heart-throbs.

... it's a bit hard to cause cardiac throbbing from behind a great splodge of prosthetic face mask and a very, very long beard! On the casting front there seems to be a growing tide of mentions of David Tennant for 'an unnamed role'. Wonder what it could be?

David Tennant... I suddenly see him as Thranduil... though it'd be weird to imagine Orlando as his son ;) //

... and he's a really good actor. I'd be happy to see him in the film, it was just the idea of him as a hobbit that seemed bizarre.

Im sure its a typo or some kinda mistake cos that would cause mayhem if it were true, I know MGM are short of cash but this is rediculous.

"Also looking likely is James Nesbitt, who, according to Pajiba’s Twitter feed, has already being offered a role - that of Bofur, one of the three dwarfs who accompany Bilbo on his quest. "

... I did a double-take when I saw that, then assumed that the writer didn't know much about The Hobbit. After all, if you were whittling the thirteen dwarves down to three, I don't think you'd pick Bofur, would you? I think it's quite interesting that an actor has been rumoured for Bofur at all - it suggests that they're trying to bring out the individual characters of the 'lesser' dwarves.

If I had to press it down to 3 dwarves, I would take Thorin, Balin and Bombur. Certainly not Bofur!

http://www.bleedingcool.com/...ankenstein-and-more/ Here's an interview with Doug Jones. It was made after the greenlight announcement, but there's not much new info. They talk about The Hobbit for the first few minutes. Apparently Guillermo never told *anyone* which role he had planned for Jones, and no one (including Jones and del Toro) knows if he's still up for a part. However, Jones is still interested in appearing in the films; he says he hopes Peter Jackson 'remembers' him. I think there's hope yet...

is currently voicing a very convincing dragon in 'Merlin' - but it wouldn't do to have Smaug sounding like he lurked around Camelot. Ooh - Mark Gatiss? He can do silky menace very well.

In studio speak is probably another month or two. Course, I'd love to be wrong. I've heard of casting announcements from other films before, when the movie itself won't start filming till a few more months ahead. If they're starting in February, they need to secure cast now, unless they wanna wait till one month before which is nonsense.
