Winter temps vary widely, depending on where you are. [In reply to] Can't Post

Not only does NZ's length cross a few longditudes, but alpine ranges, altitude and inland or coastal settings all affect local temperatures. Niwa has a pretty good overview here.

In general Northland's (top of the North Island) winter temps will stay around the mid-teens (Celcius) while Southland's (bottom of the South Island) winter temps are around the mid-to-low single-digits on its worst days.

Celebrimbor: "Pretty rings..."
Dwarves: "Pretty rings..."
Men: "Pretty rings..."
Sauron: "Mine's better."

"Ah, how ironic, the addictive qualities of Sauronís master weapon led to its own destruction. Which just goes to show, kids - if you want two small and noble souls to succeed on a mission of dire importance... send an evil-minded b*****d with them too." - Gandalf's Diaries, final par, by Ufthak.

And do you think [In reply to] Can't Post

the weather is doing what the calendar dictates down in NZ? For I know it's not always doing that here in good old Germany - I could tell you tales about late-autumn weather in summer and winters with spring temperatures and looots of snow in spring ... Wink

Warm/hot temperatures and fine weather have lasted right into mid April, even May. Cool

The seasons of two years, perhaps. But not a single one: the equinoxes occur semiannually. It takes two tropical years to rack up four equinoxes.

…all eyes looked upon the ring; for he held it now aloft, and the green jewels gleamed there that the Noldor had devised in Valinor. For this ring was like to twin serpents, whose eyes were emeralds, and their heads met beneath a crown of golden flowers, that the one upheld and the other devoured; that was the badge of Finarfin and his house.

Huh??? [In reply to] Can't Post

The equinoxes are points in the earth's orbit around the sun and they occur EACH year.
