Saraha $2B Bid Reconsidered By MGM Can't Post

Last week it was reported a two billion dollar offer from Indian conglomerate Sahara India Pariwar was rejected by MGM. But now an article in Businessweek says the offer is being reconsidered by creditors.

Additionally, Sahara has chosen an investment bank in the United States to provide representation, according to Sahara spokeswoman Marcy DePina. She also stated that "part of the quick rejection had to do with Sahara submitting documentation of its assets in rupees"

You can read the entire article here.

Well, this just confirms that everything is in a state of flux and we may yet see Deep Roy as Bilbo :O

for every tiny half step forward... [In reply to] Can't Post

We take one or two huge steps back. I fear that there are too many problems that will drag on and on as everyone and their uncle wants a say in this or a piece of that. Looking more and more likely that we will be losing actors at the very least. Might lose P.J. and New Zealand as well. Might even lose the project and at this point, if we lose those other things that's probably for the best. Someone tell me I'm wrong and elaborate! Thanks!

It must be residual taint from Morgoth / Melkor reaching [In reply to] Can't Post

through into our universe...or maybe a remaining wisp of Sauron / Thauron travels the world.

"Morgoth" = "Black Foe of the World" (Black Enemy).
Sauron = "abominable" or "abhorrent"

Maybe the LOTR movies stirred one of them up and he has found a way to exact revenge.....

As usual Kangi, I agree 100%... Now where is the nearest electrical outlet???

All we can do is hope and place our faith in PJ. He is the guardian of the NZ film industry and he knows it. The film will probably stay in NZ, but might be delayed even more - even if the MGM situation gets wrapped up soon...

No it is more complicated than that. [In reply to] Can't Post

Spyglass is not offering anything except their skill at running a studio. The 3+ billion dollars of debit would become a percentage share in the New MGM after bankruptcy. Debit disappears and the re-done company goes on to make millions..
Sahara is offering 2 billion dollars to buy the debit and the company outright. Creditors get 50 cents on the dollar and are out of the business.

Sahara buy MGM and get Spyglass to Manage ...

That would certainly get the Unions blood pressure up with speculation that the Hobbit might go to Mumbai. Wink
