Scenes From the Party Hat Can't Post

Today's party game was suggested by dernwyn who was inspired by a Fiesta post by ElanorTX. Thanks, ladies!

What do you suppose happened to Bilbo's mail in his absence?
Telling us what kind of mail he got will get you loads of invisible extra credit! Laugh

Happy Birthday, boys!

And suddenly the Ainur saw afar off a light, as it were a cloud with a living heart of flame.

All those unread Shire Geographics and L.L. Beanpole catalogs... [In reply to] Can't Post

The pile would have gotten larger and larger, and heavier and heavier, until the door to Bag End was blocked completely!

No wonder they didn't hold the auction until well after a year after Bilbo had disappeared: it took them that long to excavate through the blockage.

The Gaffer faithfully picked it up every day ... [In reply to] Can't Post

At the bottom of the pile, the oldest mail, there were many circulars for the local market and pipeweed vendor, a reminder from his tailor and one from his pedicurist (reminding him of his appointment for his foot shampoo).

As you work your way up through the pile, strange things begin appearing:

- a formal letter from the Middle-earth Burglars' Guild, requesting he register to avoid penalties
- a mini-catalog from The Sharper Image, featuring tools for spelunking
- another letter from the Middle-earth Burglars' Guild, demanding immediate registration
- a bill for overnight lodging, addressed to Burglar Baggins and signed "Landroval"
- an flyer from Middle-earth Vegetarians Unite!, smelling strangely of honey and with the hand-scrawled note "should look into this - B"
- a letter of proposal from a dwarf who invented a failsafe spider repellent ("proof against even the largest lob!"), looking for funding
- scores of catalogs from chain mail and weapon retailers
- a couple more missives from the Middle-earth Burglars' Guild, one with "FINAL NOTICE: ACTION FOLLOWS"
- scores and scores of solicitations from investment firms, and even more on the theme of "We Buy GOLD at the Best Prices in Town!"

It's amazing how these mailing lists get hold of one's information...

ROFL! [In reply to] Can't Post

A note from his pedicurist! And yes, it is horrifying, how one's name gets onto certain mailing lists...Crazy
