Please NO Johnny Depp anywhere in the movie. I do like Stephen Fry. He can do anything. Funny part in Gosford Park. Big man, booming voice. That said, I would rather see unknown or little known actors who can deliver.
Hop along, my little friends, up the Withywindle! Tom's going on ahead candles for to kindle. Down west sinks the Sun: soon you will be groping. When the night-shadows fall, then the door will open, Out of the window-panes light will twinkle yellow. Fear no alder black! Heed no hoary willow! Fear neither root nor bough! Tom goes on before you. Hey now! merry dol! We'll be waiting for you!

Of all the names on that list, why did you single out Johnny Depp to say "no" to? And to reassure you, unless the shooting schedule is postponed for a couple of years, Depp is not available to take a role in The Hobbit. He has on his schedule at the moment: POTC4, Dark Shadows, and the Pancho Villa film all to be shot back to back to back over the next year.

In reply to your question: 1. I was too lazy after my elevenses to go through the whole list. 2. His name caught my eye and even though he's a famous actor with great skills and fabulous bone structure, I don't want him within ten feet of the movie. It's just my "too recognizable, too distinct, too A list, too commercial" actor radar kicking in. That's just my own humble personal opinion and not meant to offend you or anyone.

... so sorry for this really really late reply. I remember I had a lot of responses to my post and for some reason replying to you slipped off my mind. I did recall however that someone had commented on my avatar, but I had no idea who it was or what the text of the post was. I finally found it after looking through all the replies to my posts The avatar is based on one of the Rohan symbols from the movies. I Photoshopped it till I could get the effect I wanted. Thanks and welcome to TORn

I'd like to see Richard Coyle as Bilbo. He just starred in Terry Pratchett's Going Postal, as well as the sitcom Coupling. He was also in Prince of Persia (which I haven't seen) I'd like to see Nick Frost or Johny Vegas as Bombur

the story will be written in such a way as to add that storyline. Yep, that would necessitate 2 films.

WOW, I agree, you'd make a great Drogo Baggins (at least based on your looks as compared to Elijah Wood's Frodo). Coolness! All the best Eric... you've got people rooting for you already

... but I'm not very knowledgeable about such stuff anyway. But he "looks the part", is what I think, and that's a good start. At any rate it's great to hear of such "surprise" roles (Drogo Baggins, troll(s), and who knows what else), even if they're still not yet official

What role did you audition for? I've gone over your threads and I don't see you telling us anywhere which one it is. You also mention telling them who you are after you audition... what are you some long lost Tolkien relative who doesn't want to get the part because of your Elven ancestry?
King Arthur: Who are you who can summon fire without flint or tinder? Tim: There are some who call me... Tim. Tim: Follow. But. Follow only if ye be TORNsibs of valour, for the making of The Hobbit is guarded by a creature so foul, so cruel that no TORNsib yet has fought with it and lived. Bones of an A List veteran director lie strewn about its lair. So, brave TORNsibs, if you do doubt your courage or your strength, come no further, for Hollywood studio bureaucratic ineptitude awaits you all with nasty, big, pointy teeth! Studio Exec: And that, my liege, is how we know the Earth to be banana-shaped. Studio CEO: This new learning amazes me, Studio Lapdog. Explain again how sheeps' bladders may be employed to prevent earthquakes.

Or at least that is what BoB has hinted at on at least one occasion.

.... B-o-B auditioned for the role of a Dwarf, and his nick "bond of blood" is meant as a reference a relative of Thorin, which is the role of the Dwarf he auditioned for. He also posted a link to a youtube audio-only video of him reciting the Dwarf song "Far over the misty mountains old...", which I thought was very good as it really conjured a sense of mystery (to me!)

and yeah I watched his youtube reading of the poem as I was going through his posts. It was quite good. Well for whatever role you've auditioned for BoB good luck to ya! Also appreciate you keeping us informed a bit on the progress of pre-production and casting.
