Will an announcement be made at Comic-Con 2010 for "The Hobbit"?

Peter Jackson's name isn't listed as a special guest. Will he show up anyway at Comic-Con 2010?

Obviously some kind of announcement or "update" like last year - for good or evil

...I don't think an announcement will be made. I highly doubt that MGM will have resolved their financial situation less than a week after getting another debt extension, and in the absence of a resolution there can be no budget, which means they can't finalize anything, which means no announcement.

MGM must solidify its position, although I think Bond and The Hobbit give everybody a reason to get it done sooner and not later.

The announcement may not be at the convention but during its run time. The news will be independent of a definitive long term solution for MGM. It will involve the Hobbit distribution rights only.
