'My Inner Orc' - A new play about LOTR actors and fans in London, October Can't Post

Hi all

Thought I would drop you all a line telling you about my new play 'My Inner Orc' which is going on in London in October.

The play

It's a comedy about LOTRs actors and the fans who love them. Set at the 2010 Croydon Ringcon (!) it involves an actor who is 'a star of the movies and the conventions' and a fan who really believes she is an Elf and that together they are fated to save the world from Gandalf the Black.

So yes, it is funny and a good-natured go at both the fans and the actors but also looks at the underlying core values of Ring devotees - fun, honour and brother/sisterhood. It even has 'approved by the man' Jed Brophy jokes in it.

There's a site for the play here: http://www.myinnerorc.com which has a few posts on it about the play, why I wrote it, and some cute picture puzzles you might like. There's even the latest version of the script to download and read.

About me

I started as an actor in NZ about the same time as Jed - he was a couple of years ahead of me at Drama School and we worked on a couple of plays together. Actually Shane Rangi was in my year. So I know a lot of those guys. Which is how I got the idea for the play. I wasn't in NZ for the LOTR shooting - I had moved to London by then - but I did have one or two lines in a previous PJ movie...

Feedback?!

I'm keen to get input on the play so if anyone takes the time to read it I would be interested in what you think of it.

Come and see it!

And of course I would love you to come and see the play. Best way to do that would be to subscibe to myinnerorc.com or join the facebook group (see below for links). We will probably offer a group discount and there is plenty of time to meet the cast and crew after the show if you want to say hi.

Looks great! [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm in the States, and won't be able to travel there.

But I wish you much success with the play, fellow LotR fan! And welcome to TORn.

Sounds like fun [In reply to] Can't Post

I'm going to follow the progress on Facebook, really wondering how it will turn out.
I probably won't come to have a look, October is a bit of a LOTR-traveling month, and I'm not sure funding will reach that far.
Good luck with everything!
