I know this because my friend and I (and he is the Utter Ultimate Geek) used to propose questions to each other on the playground in 3rd grade, concerning subjects such as "What is Infinity" and "How did God get there in the first place." We would spend an entire recess just trying to imagine and visualize the universe going on forever. (He lost me when he tried to describe nuclear turbines to me in detail--I was in 4rth grade and he was a year younger--still is, I guess )!

He can make bacon with minimal supervision (okay, he can COOK bacon w/minimal supervision). He mixes Kool-Aid by himself replete with correct amount of sweetener. He's fairly good at sandwiches of most sorts and the one thing we both have baked - a special bread recipe - he's done very well as well. His mother doesn't allow him to cook. I only allow him when I'm right there and not busy but he does very well. I'm also just so proud that he'll try anything once. Never has been a finicky eater - DEFINITELY doesn't take after his Aunt Kris! (my sister)

maybe a year or so ago on parallel universes, my mom comes by, listens for a while, shakes her head and leaves. She picked on me for a while after that for enjoying the show, she thought it was utter nonsense
I suppose it doesn't help that she's not a science fiction type of person, I've got my dad for that we're quite talented at getting stuck on the couch late at night watching the sci-fi channel (one thing I miss about being home)

We were sort of encouraged at home, but at school it was rather frowned upon, yet we persisted, spurred on even more by the opposition. It's almost a "need" this type of brain has--and oh what fun we have! It's worth it all.

And what's been done wrong in my own life and the lives of those around me. I've seen more divorce than I want to admit having stomached and lived through it as well. One of the things I have to heal about myself is there are STILL things from my folks' divorce I have to re-evaluate and change about me. As I was a frightened child, I became somewhat controlling. Not to a truly despicable degree, but enough of one that it's caused some problems in my life and at this stage those problems are no longer tolerable. I HAVE to change for the sake of my boy, but also for my own. I truly do want to try one more time for life-long love and a daughter and for me to do that I have to let go where before I clung tightly - TOO tightly.

I've never heard of that before (that I recall at least)
I can't say that overall I'm a better baker than my mom, that would be hard to call, but my mom admits that my pie crusts are more flaky and delicious 
both my mom and I love to bake (especially deserts)

I've wanted a daughter since I was 16, and you're precisely how I might have hoped such a daughter would have turned out. Beautiful (yes, I remember the pic you posted in your RennFayre dress!), intelligent (physics? Oh yeah!), and geeky (you're HERE! 'Nuff said! )
Hope someday my son has a sibling to feed all that cool stuff to (watching such shows as Discovery's science fact and whimsy or geeky stuff like Mystery Science Theatre 3000).

so a few hours ago I went to the cafe to read while having a smoothie, it was quite nice out, if a bit humid
as I'm there I start to notice it getting dark more quickly than I expected, though I think maybe it's just later than I think
I leave and discover there's a big thunderstorm that I didn't even notice, but I sure noticed when I had to bike back to the house in it. Rain is coming down in sheets with lots of lightening and loud thunder.
Perhaps it says something about me (positive or negative, your choice) that I wasn't so concerned about getting wet myself as not letting my book get wet and that once my book was safe I was tempted to go back outside and stand in the rain, I was (and still am) already soaked to the bone anyway. It looks like I jumped into a lake fully clothed

Whose name escapes me at the moment.  In it Capt Picard is mind-locked to a deep space probe that turns out to be the last remnant of a long dead civilisation and in it in the span of a few hours Picard lives an entire life among that people, learning their ways, their culture, a type of flute native to them and their ultimate mistake that dooms the race. He has a daughter in that dreamworld that, in the words of her "mother" "went tramping after you" doing sciency-stuff. I can ALMOST remember the daughter's name, but it's been twenty years now!

She had some serious issues - far more serious than I would have believed. Very bright, very creative. But ultimately unreachable because of her own "past daemons". I hope, but do not know if she's even still alive (suicidal).

But books DO dis-integrate in wet weather so GOOD on ya!
What kinda bike d'ya got? I used to race bikes when I was in my early 20s so I've a geeky interest there.
