Uhh-mmm (and I quote): [In reply to] Can't Post

"Oh yes, they are--

thank goodness. They over-regulate, but this is a good one."

I meant, regulating trans-fats is a good regulation, and thanks goodness they have done so; but that they tend to over-regulate in some other areas (but not being civic minded enough, exactly what I have objected to in the past escapes me right now. It tends to be a common complaint around here, so I guess I mostly have picked up on that . . .Blush).

If memory lapses are an indication of Alzheimers, then I think I have had it since age 10!Unsure I am famously forgetful, and one time (in a sense) I sort of forgot my own name! (I'll tell ya sometime, when my self esteem levels have risen to a safe elevation.WinkSmile)

It so happens that i have it. [In reply to] Can't Post

I was digging holes for plantings on the ugly lot property line and i was moving dirt without gloves and apparently there was PI in root form i did not not realize and my right hand is swollen and have itchies here and there.

I forgot i had 'tecnu' poison oak-n-ivy cleaner for removal of those oils that cause havoc (here at the camp) but i put it on anyway. It helped. Yes some people are lucky not to get it, but not me (either).

Just wondering! [In reply to] Can't Post

About the house, that is! Laugh But as long as the kitchen and bath are usable - those are the most important!

Film-making is a skill that will always be in demand, there are so many ways it's used! My youngest is currently studying for a degree in acoustic arts (sound engineering), and already she's done the sound editing for a Civil War documentary.

I can well imagine that little sis is feeling lonely for her big sis at times, this is such a big change in their lives! Fortunately with email and things like Facebook (my kids keep in touch with their cousins, aunts, and uncles that way), those two can still have a communication closeness which was lacking back in our day.

I think that regulation isn't the problem as much as enforcement is... [In reply to] Can't Post

And enforcement doesn't happen because government can never pay a salary that hopes to compete with bribes, though here in capitalism-land they call it "gifts". <gets offa soapbox> Anyway, you need to read more Aunt Erma if your self-esteem keeps you from sharing about forgetting your name - "I wore my PJs inside out once and my mom, thinking it was a nametag, called me 'Dr Denton' for a week."

Yes, we were living at home. [In reply to] Can't Post

Dad had said, earlier that evening, "We'll be home about midnight, Lord willing and the creek don't rise." :-D But they didn't get home until the following afternoon. I was 19, and my two siblings were younger. Uncle Baggins, who was my boyfriend at the time, was with us. Our aunt came over with her CB the next day to try to get information, but couldn't find out anything. These days we take communication for granted, but the phones were out for a week.

Lovely! [In reply to] Can't Post

Snow on the mountains makes for such a picturesque view. I hope you stayed warm today! We have a nice view of the Southern Alps from...well, not quite from our house unless you were standing on the roof, but from points nearby, and I just love seeing them covered in snow.

We actually finally had some sun this morning -- such a welcome change! But then it was decided we needed a family outing, and the only place to head -- into town -- was straight back under the surly grey clouds. So much for the sun! We spent a cold afternoon watching the boys play in the sand on the beach, and now there's no clear sky to be seen.

Speaking of marmite, though, and variations in food preferences between countries, I have a question for you. I was reading a kids' book by a Kiwi author about a young girl and her Gran. They had picnics on a beach and ate marmite and potato crisp sandwichs. Marmite's bad enough, but adding potato chips in with it? Is this a closet Kiwi favorite that I hadn't yet run across, or something odd that the author made up?

What a nice welcome! [In reply to] Can't Post

Wish I had more time to spend here. I really do miss my old friends!

Nice to see you too, Elizabeth. I like to think of what gorgeous weather you must be enjoying when this dismal dreary stuff starts getting old. I know you must get rain sometimes, but at least in the pictures Hawaii's always sunny. :-) I hope you're doing well.

NZ Toddler is MUCH less of a handful than his elder brother, and is generally cooperative and well-behaved. So whenever he does come up with some egregious misdeed, it always takes us by surprise! With Eldarion, we just expect it...

And my dear dog, unfortunately, won't be getting better. He was diagnosed with terminal cancer not quite 6 months ago, and there wasn't much we could do. He's close to refusing all food, so he doesn't have many days left. He's only 8 years old, so it's hard having him go so early. His sister is going to miss him tremendously.
