huge fan of LOTR- return to my obsession

i was a HUGE fan of LOTR after FOTR came out on video ( and yes i mean VHS, which i still have). i became obsessed and found time to read all 3 books. I saw the two towers 6 times in theaters and I have written 2 papers on Tolkein. My life led me down a path that for a while didnt include LOTR, yet i still had my foolofatook3403 screen name (which i use for everything) and my LOTR e-mail address. For my 23rd birthday, my brother got me the DVD "Ringers" and it inspired me to get back into LOTR. I get really excited when I see a movie that has a LOTR actor in it, but it wasnt until now that I returned to the wonderful world of Tolkein. My goal is to read the Hobbit (i know, it's sad that I haven't read it) and any other Tolkein book that I haven't read yet. LOTR fans are awesome and I love the fact that you have created this web site for this community to connect. I have a 2 almost 3 year old son and I plan to dress him up as a hobbit for Halloween before he picks out his own costume without my influence. Anyone know where i can find one?

been holding that in a while, have you? Just wait till the lad is old enough to swing a sword... then the fun begins! Good luck with the costume.

You can buy commercial costumes lots of places but I'd recommend you find a good seamstress or tailor and make one (similar to what I did for my son when RotK came out and he was about 11 mo old).

Oh geez.. I'm so glad you found your way here! Perfect place for a fellow geek :D I still have all of my vhs tapes of LotR, too ;) I think it's perfect that you haven't read The Hobbit until now. It'll be fresh and new for when the Movie is finally being made (in 2 -parts!!!!) When my g'son was 6... the Halloween before Fellowship was released... he wanted to be an orc; so we put together a costume. He scared LOTS of kids and grownups because they had no idea what an orc was ;) Arwen's daughter always has info on all things costumes... so she's your go-to gal for that. It's so great to have you here :) Our nicknames really to belong to us as much as our given names, don't they ;) CHEERS foolofatook3403!!!
