Strider! Can't Post

The name of this thing caught my eye, of course, but when I watched the video, it looked like a good idea:

Strider running bikes

My own kids are grown, but if I ever have grandkids, this looks like something I might be buying. My son had a hard time learning to ride a bike, and it wasn't until we got him an old-fashioned scooter (the kind you push with one foot) that he developed the balancing skills he needed. This Strider bike looks like it might do the same thing, and be more fun.

And there's nothing new under the sun: this idea goes back to the very first bicycle:

bicycle history timeline

"For DORA BAGGINS in memory of a LONG correspondence, with love from Bilbo; on a large wastebasket. Dora was Drogo's sister, and the eldest surviving female relative of Bilbo and Frodo; she was ninety-nine, and had written reams of good advice for more than half a century."

It strikes me that "Strider" [In reply to] Can't Post

or "Striders" would be a better name for walking or tennis shoes.

Wow [In reply to] Can't Post

That timeline was really interesting!!! Especially the adult tricycles-- those actually looked kind of fun! :)
