NZ Casting is Beginning! Filming to 'tentatively' start May or June (text of link inside) [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks for the news, shadowdog! Though, that was quite possibly the most understated subject line I've ever read for such big news! Wink

The relevant text of the link is below. Interesting tidbits are that MGM is still 'tentatively' on schedule for a mid-year start, and that Ian McKellen is listed *by MGM* now as starring.

*************
“Casting is scheduled to begin next week, December 14, 2009, on the upcoming MGM Studios feature film “The Hobbit” Part 1. The project is now being developed as two films, and principal photography is tentatively scheduled to begin in New Zeeland around May or June 2011. Please submit photos and resume by mail only. No phone calls or personal drop-offs.

Principal Actor Casting:
Liz Mullane Casting
17 Taipakupaku Road
Karaka Bay
Wellington, New Zeeland 6022

Extras Casting:
Miranda Rivers
PO Box 6479
Marion Square
Wellington, New Zeeland 6022

Also from the article I posted on the Home Page: The entry also lists associated productions companies, but emphasizes NOT to send resumes and pictures to them or they will likely end up in the trash. If you’re lucky enough to live in New Zeeland, best of luck to you! If not, remember that there are requirements you must meet to be eligible to work in New Zeeland. You can read more about it in our Hobbit Movie FAQ here.

So, if you could, what part would *you* audition for? Smile

Hope that the statement that principle photography is scheduled to start in May/June 2011 is a typo. Crazy

It's starting to get exciting.

Please let spymaster@theonering.net know when you pick up on things like that [In reply to] Can't Post

Since the casting call is dated the 12th ('yesterday' in NZ) it wouldn't have been official on the 9th. But, we love to know about rumors like that, particularly from good sources! Smile

Welcome to the TORn message boards, by the way.

Considering that the movies are still scheduled to be released in 2011 and 2012... or so PJ said recently, didn't he?

Good catch, gramma! Is this the 'something' that was coming on the 14th? [In reply to] Can't Post

They didn't mention it would be announced on the 12, the sly dogs. Although it was really under the radar, and only thanks to shadowdog for finding it so soon.

Woudn't it be great if it *wasn't* the special announcement, and we're going to get yet another one on the 14th? Cool

If it was the announcement ... [In reply to] Can't Post

I wonder why they said it was 'delayed'?
Maybe it was industry news first for a week, and then out to the general public?
I hope the Hobbit extra comp is still on that GdT memtioned back ages ago Smile

and the date for the filming - mid 2010 - there's been a few posts about this later shooting months over the past week too - I posted as I heard September in Welington? I suppose they'll shoot when they're ready Smile

Thank goodness my boss will understand me being late today - (and its a Sunday here!)
Im sure the garden can wait to be watered another hour or so Wink
