I'm sorry....this is me functioning on two hours of sleep, so I'm a little more giggly than normal. But I just started cracking up when I read this post. Do I want The Hobbit to be rated PG-13 or PG-13? And my voting options are yes, no, yes, no, or other. Hmm. Sorry-- it really is a good question. I would vote yes, but I can't decide which yes to vote for! Wink (I'll cast my vote for the first yes)

Am I understanding correctly... [In reply to] Can't Post

are you meaning to say do I want a PG rather than PG-13 movie? I'd prefer PG 13. I expect, given the director and producer, that it will be.

What's the "other" option? [In reply to] Can't Post

Other MPAA ratings?

We already have a G-rated Hobbit -- the Rankin-Bass animated Hobbit. A pair of G-rated live-action Hobbit movies would work pretty well, but GdT is unlikely to take this approach.

I think a PG rating is most appropriate for the Hobbit movies, as it would be closest to the light-hearted yet action-packed tone of the book.

However I think they're most likely to get a PG-13 rating. Given GdT's track record, I suspect that the violent and scary elements that are present in the original story will be given more prominence in the movie.

An R-rated Hobbit would be way over the top in terms of violence, gore and horror -- and would be commercial suicide.

An NC-17 rated Hobbit would be, um, interesting.

what we have in NZ which is PG- Parental Guidance recommended. It is between a G and an M- Mature audience only (PG13) in the States.

I have a 6 and a 9 year old who want to see it! Not to mention a 12 year old, and me, a 43 year old!!!
