**Baggins Birthday Fanfic Fiasco!! Can't Post

Here's where you flex your fanfic muscles. Haiku, drabbles, rhymes and more are screaming to plant themselves in this post to celebrate our Baggins Boys' Birthdays! Here are a few of my stumble... I mean... humble attempts.

Birthday haiku
One turns thirty-three—
The elder 'leventy-one--
Mark the day in gold

Goblin-barkers crack—
Backarappers, squibs and sparks
Call time for supper

Boffins by the tree
The Hornblowers guard the ale—
So where do I sit?

A poem with little reason and no rhyme.
"The day is here; now drink to his health."
Their tankards rise together.
For years the ritual not only marks the day
But the love and longing for the missing one.

Yet there's cheer and laughter as they celebrate
Another year gone by.
And Sam, setting down his mug, also marks it
As another year closer
To a promise made by the seaside
While the White Gulls cried.

A Drabble – More Party Mysteries 9/22/09
"Look! There's dust rising at the end of the road again!" Several ran up the hill, straining to catch a glimpse of what was coming up the way this time. The waggon was covered; drawn by an immense horse as black as pitch. Each footfall caused the dust to slowly rise about its legs and the wide wheels stirred even more, giving the rig a mysterious air. Even the driver was hidden in the shadows under the red canopy. Amidst the scowls and shaking heads, the hobbits buzzed with guesses of what could be hidden within the slowly lumbering cart.

In the beginning... [In reply to] Can't Post

A drabble about a comparatively much smaller party, but a big one to one certain young Hobbit:

"Frodo! Wake up!"

Frodo blinked his groggy eyes as Bilbo pulled back the window curtains and the Sun shone brightly into the room.

He had gotten to bed quite late last night; never before had there been so many presents to wrap! He hoped he had not mixed up any tags: most of those names were unfamiliar to him. There were still many preparations to make, but fortunately Bilbo had hired help.

For this was a very special birthday celebration: his first since he came to live at Bag End - and, he hoped, the first of many to come.

Dusk, Halimath 22nd, 1421 [In reply to] Can't Post

The mast creaked pleasantly as the sail flapped and filled illuminated through by setting sun and reflections of water.

The gulls sang with the wind in the rigging as the waves lapped into froth at the bow.

''We are on our way now Bilbo''.

''Yes my lad'' as he held Frodo's hand with both of his.

''I still see them there''.

''You have the Lady's glass you know'' as he smiled.

Frodo cradled it in his hand and held it aloft and all beheld it's brilliance.

So there, most beautiful it was, as Frodo illuminated the dusk with his love.

I am sorry. I am late.

''Sam put his ragged orc-cloak under his master's head, and covered them both with the grey robe of Lorien; and as he did so his thoughts went out to that fair land, and to the Elves, and he hoped that the cloth woven by their hands might have some virtue to keep them hidden beyond all hope in this wilderness of fear...But their luck held, and for the rest of that day they met no living or moving thing; and when night fell they vanished into the darkess of Mordor.'' - - -rotk, chapter III

May the grace of Manwë let us soar with eagle's wings!

In the air, among the clouds in the sky
Here is where the birds of Manwe fly
Looking at the land, and the water that flows
The true beauty of earth shows
With the stars of Varda lighting my way
In all the realms this is where I stay
In the realm of Manwë Súlimo

but beautiful, none the less.// [In reply to] Can't Post

"That is one thing that Men call 'hope.' Amdir we call it, 'looking up.' But there is another which is founded deeper. Estel we call it, that is 'trust.' It is not defeated by the ways of the world, for it does not come from experience, but from our nature and First Being. If we are indeed the Eruhin, the Children of the One, then He will not suffer Himself to be deprived of His own, not by any enemy, not even by ourselves. This is the last foundation of estel, which we keep even when we contemplate the End. Of all His designs the issue must be for His children's joy."
