I'd go more than a few times if I could. I visited the LotR props exhibit in Indianapolis 4 times in 2 days! But alas... I'll be lucky, it seems, to see this exhibit once. I'm getting the impression the tours are in small groups by reservation, so that would really hinder chances once our mob hits ;) We shall see...

What a bummer! I was looking forward to seeing you! I'm so sorry. I don't need the ticket, but I'm sad you can't be there. *sigh*

I haven't been around much lately, so hello to old friends and new. I purchased a ticket back in January, but now am unable to go. I'd like to sell it, so if anyone's interested, please e-mail me at lyoung1701 at yahoo . com. It's 3rd Mezzanine level, row F, seat 410. Dead center to the stage, which is pretty darn nice, even if it's high up. I'm sorry I won't get to see you all there.

Leaving us hanging like that! *tsk tsk* I still have my nametag- the lovely leaf- from some TORn meeting of some sort. It might have been an ORC. I'm pretty sure it wasn't a TF meeting... I love being a Tolkien nerd.

Wow, there are so many threads to try and keep track of. But I voted on the moot thing. Now, to find out about that Manuscript exhibit. hmmmm. Me thinks it's going to be a very busy weekend.

And I have about a million threes to read through... Getting the iPhone has caused me to abandon the computer.... And well make deciphering threads quite a task... *sigh* Good news, Im definitely going! I found tickets on eBay, if I don't get those I'm going to be in NYC anyway (yay for art museums! & manuscript exhibits!)

U2 concert date, + my situation update--HELP still!:)

Garfelmeo, the U2 concert is Sept. 24. I MIGHT --repeat MIGHT--have a deal getting down there and coming back to the City that night--it's on a Thursday--(may find this out in the next couple of days)--but as for spending the night anywhere, the jury is still out. And for 2 weeks later, (this event/weekend), no play to stay still. Nada! With all the money this is going to cost in non-transporatation stuff (the $52 for the Friday night thing, any fees for tickets to other events, etc, I'm going to be pushing it just to afford the train fare just to get there. Paying for even half a hotel room is out of the question. Getting the time off of work is no problem--I have loads of vacation time coming. I've taken only one day off this year so far, just to save up days for things like this. I'm going to the Saturday night show (I'm told that I'm going to be stuck up in the nosebleeds--3rd tier-- with about 15 other sibs, and my seat is 2 rows directly in back of Deej in fact). Geez--I know this is short notice---but Fool of a Took or anyone with relatives in the area, since my cousin and aunt no longer live in the state (my aunt now lives in Maine and my cousin in Pennsylvania, and my other friend has moved to Buffalo), any way you can talk them inot letting e crash on a mattress on the floor in an attic or something? I'm harmless, I swear...I won't eat anything, and it's just me...Fri and Sat night?:) This is NO WAY to plan a trip, but this has been a crazy year!!

*** UPDATED RCMH SEATING CHART ***** 9/3/09
[In reply to]

Here's an updated Seating Chart of the Radio City Music Hall (RCMH) showing where we'll be sitting (Those who have given out their seat numbers). Sorry for the delay, but I wanted to get as clear a chart as I could and still have it large enough to make out the seats AND the names. So I've given you some options: This chart shows the Seating Chart with no name tags but includes the list of names. NYC Moot Seating Chart 9/3/09 List no tags This Chart shows the tagged seats with our names and the list at the bottom. NYC Moot Seating Chart 9/3/09 List with tags This Chart is JUST of the Seating Chart/Floor plan with only the blocked-out seats showing. NYC Moot Seating Chart 9/3/09 no tags no list This set is hopefully for a better image quality: This Chart is only of the Seating Chart/Floor plan but includes tagged seats. This goes along with the name list below. NYC Moot Seating Chart 9/3/09 tags no list This Chart has only the list of names that goes along with the tagged Seating Chart (sans list at the bottom) NYC Moot Seating Chart 9/3/09 List only So… now that I've thoroughly confused you… ENJOY!!! :D You'll note the sub-list and ???. That's the group known as "The Avari" who have taken siege on Rows A&B of the 3rd Mezzanine… so BEWARE!! If anyone else would like to add their names, please pm me or let Smeagirl/Girllum know so we can add you on as well. It'll be nice to know where everyone is :)

On that Friday, a bunch of us turned up at RCMH and asked if we could all exchange our solo scattered seats in order to get a block together? Do you think they'd shoot us? Laugh at us? Or actually make an attempt to move some of us around? Just curious. It seems some did a good job getting seats near each other.

I still have to go and pick up my ticket (I have it on will-call, which means I have to pick it up at RCMH). But I'm not really sure it will be makeable. It would mean they would have to replace other people and I don't know if they would be really happy with another place. But we could try. If we don't try, you'll never know if it would have worked.

I would think it would be of more interest to those sitting in a section alone to join those sitting in a section with several others, rather than all of us. And of course, because of pricing differences, it would be in each price range.

Oct. 5 - Nov. 19 (9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Oct 9, 10, 11) - “The Beginnings of a Masterpiece: Original Manuscripts from The Fellowship of the Ring ” exhibit at Fordham University's Lincoln Center campus. Per the announcement posted on TORn's Home Page: “The Beginnings of a Masterpiece” is free and open to the public on October 9-11, with small group tours at the top of the each hour between 9:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m. Group size will be limited to 10 individuals. Special access rules apply for off-campus guests after October 11th. Please visit Fordham Libraries website at www.library.fordham.edu after September 15th to learn more about viewing the exhibit. The Quinn Library is located on the first floor of the Lowenstein Building at 113 West 60th Street. Out of curiosity, is anyone trying to coordinate access to the manuscript display for the group? I know they say in groups of 10 people each, so it will take some time to get through everyone. But if we split up between Friday and Saturday, we should be able to get everyone through.

In groups if 10... and IF we're able to snag each of those group offerings... that would give us 6 tours on Saturday and 6 on Friday, with up to 6 more for those staying through Sunday. We have about 80-100 people do we? I wouldn't be around to be at that location at the top of each hour or to send off each group, but I'll try and coordinate tours for those who want to attend that way. I'd contact Fordham University and alert them that we'd have enough groups to (at least) sweep away their Saturday exhibits! Maybe with a heads-up like that, they'd have another escort available for an additional TORn/non-TORn group. This would mean I'd need to know everyone's preference and put together a sign-up sheet. What d'ya think Garfeimao? Shall we assault this awesome exhibit!? ;)

Yes, I think contacting Fordham is the best first choice. If we give them a heads up, maybe they can find a way to make this easy for us to have first crack at those slots on Friday through Sunday AM, or offer a separate guide, or something like that. You know just about everyone in our group is going to want to go. It's a win-win for them.

I'm rather flexible. Only for Friday I have to consult with gkgyver, we are planning a sight seeing day, so I have to see what the plans for that day are. I'm also around on Sunday, so I could go later, but I would love to be there with some TORn-sibs (some people who know why I'm hyperventilating while seeing some old piece of paper ). Maybe when they are informed up-front they can put something together for TORn, maybe a bit more people allowed in (since we all know how valuable those pieces are and promise to be really careful with everything present ).
