First look at the Rebuilding of Hobbiton! Can't Post

18596-smRinger Spy Uhtred passed this information to Red Carpet Tours, and they have exclusively shared these pics with TheOneRing.net! The re-building of Hobbiton has begun, with the planting of hedgerows and fruit trees. An extension to the path that passes in front of Bag End has been marked out also. There will be several new Hobbit holes dotted along its length. Check out the complete gallery of images in our scrapbook and discuss in our forums! [Scrapbook Gallery] [Red Carpet Tours]

Thanks for posting this... really exciting. It is actually happening!

*Note* I don't think one would invest in things like these if there was a real danger of the film not happening!

Fantastic news!
Im so thrilled it has begun!
I wonder if we will now see more of hobbiton and its inhabitants - like Sams place and the rest of Bagshot Row.

Thanks Callisuri!
Cheers

I believe that #3 Bagshot Row was shown in the Triogy. That would be both Sam's and the Gaffers home.

Alike, and yet not alike... [In reply to] Can't Post

What a front-row seat we have for the rebuilding of the Shire!

We know that they are re-producing the steps they went through, over a decade ago; but at that time, it was all hush-hush and high security.

But the times have changed, and we have entered a new era of relationships between production teams and their fan bases - and as a result, we are being given the awesome privilege of witnessing this amazing event, from the very beginning!

Thank you so much, GdT and PJ and everyone! Heart

Hobbiton [In reply to] Can't Post

I think that it would be wonderful if the site could could be conserved in its completed form. I do not know much about the land use laws in New Zealand but I am sure that it would be advantageous to the farm family and the country's tourist industry to keep it complete. It would be a good place to build the museum to display the artifacts created for the trilogy as well as those that will be made for The Hobbit I &II.

A web cam would be nice. They could always turn it off during shooting.

maybe it will? [In reply to] Can't Post

I mean when they originally contracted to use his land the deal was that it be returned to (as much as possible) to its original state. Of course that was before said farmer realized he could set up a tourist attraction...Surely this one little piece of his farm must reap more income than all of his sheep combined....

I suppose only time will tell, but wouldn't it be nice to walk through it as seen on screen...When I went through it felt like the ruins of a lost time....sigh.

I am obsessed, but I am in excellent company.

It's already closed to the public, but I'm working to confirm that now. After all, it's not just secrecy at issue, it's safety. With all those tractors and the like moving stuff around and digging holes, and the like, it might not be safe to wander around.
