also from the BBC. Guillermo talks about The Hobbit towards the end. His enthusiasm and commitment really shine through! His book sounds intriguing too...
On a side note, after some discussion recently in the RR about how to pronounce 'Smaug', I noticed that GDT pronounces it 'Smahg' (i.e. similar to 'smog' if you have an American accent), rather that 'Sm-ow-g', which is what Tolkien's pronunciation guide seems to suggest.
But then later, he also pronounces 'Sauron' the same way ('S-ah-ron', not 'S-ow-ron').
I know that the filmmakers employ consultants to help the actors with the pronunciation of Tolkien's names and languages, and that the behind-the-scenes folks don't always bother trying to be that accurate themselves. But I do hope that GDT will give as much attention to this side of things as PJ did - it really helps to give that sense of "authenticity", I find.

I have always pronouced it as the English word 'smog', and, to be quite honest. I prefer that way. XD
I wonder if the reading board has had a discussion about Gloin's name (since his father's name is Groin...). I got into a debate about that on LOTR Online whether Gloin was one syllable or two syllables (like "glow-in" or rather than how the film pronounced it, so you would have grow-in as his father's name...)
Ah, Tolkien and languages. What's not to love?
