Poem Can't Post

April Dawn

A silver flash.
Ever expanding rings,
Rippled dash.
Sun, the dawn brings.

Loons cry.
Illuminate horizon.
Echoes do not die
In the mind, never done.

Woodpecker’s rapid tap!
Enlivens Arda’s breath,
Sounds, in silence’s gap.
Night passing and thoughts of Elbereth.

Spider’s gossamer floating,
Water’s sparkling dance,
Mother bird on the wing doting.
Morn’s beauty doest, my heart lance.

April brings the migratory loons on their way north with destinations unknown. There were several pairs, swimming and diving and calling up and down the pond.
The water is incredibly clear and still. Several large bass lazily swim to and fro in front of the dock. This year there is a myriad of baby Yellow perch with their vertical stripes. Mama and papa, a foot long, seem to be herding them closer to the shore. My son peers down into the water and says, "Looks like they are on a field trip". A pair of wrens are doing an aerial ballet for the new flying insect presence doing a ballet of their own. I was looking for the otters early but they were not to be seen nor the beaver which made several visits last year for some reason up from the cove. The Serviceberry with it's delicate white blossoms have not ventured forth yet due to the lingering cold.
NOW, winter is gone. Now for some yardwork. Time to rally the troops again. Pump up the wheelbarrow tire first.

"Tolkien, like Lewis, believed that, through story, the real world would become a more magical place, full of meaning. We see its patterns and colors in a fresh way. The recovery of a true view of the world applies both to individual things, like hills and stones, and to the cosmic - the depths of space and time itself. For in sub-creation, in Tolkien's view, there is a "survey" of space and time. Reality is captured on a miniature scale. Through stories like The Lord of the Rings, a renewed view of things is given, illuminating the homely, the spiritial, the physical, and the moral dimensions of the world."
