"The Ladies of the Ring"- an experimental film we made based on a modern adaptation of LotR

What would happen if the one ring was forged in our world in our times? And what if the fellowship was made of nine college girls? For some strange reason, these were the thoughts I had when on a plane ride a few months ago, so I jotted them down in sort of a script format. I showed it to my friends back in college, and they all found it hilarious so we decided to turn it into a film. A few of us are pre-film majors, but I was the only one with any film experience, and that in itself was minimal. However, I think we managed to make a decent and entertaining film. I would love if you guys checked it out, and tell me honestly what you think- keeping in mind it was a no budget, mostly learning project :) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQXJktxKOzE PS- I posted the trailer on here a while back... a few months ago maybe. We've definitely improved a lot since then- we even went back and re-filmed some parts that needed improvement.

If you're already doing it there's nothing 'pre' about it This is an interesting interpretation. How did you decide to stick with the original names? Was it a big writing battle?

because when we first tried changing them, we still had some practically the same (like Sam/Samantha, Merry/Mary) and then the other ones no one could agree on (What's closest to Frodo? Ferrah? Frida?) and some people thought we should just ditch the names entirely and come up with ones of our own. People all had different opinions on it, and I myself was torn, so I just wrote it with the original names and figured they would be easy enough to change when the time came. But it seems the time never came, so we just stuck with them. Looking back, it could have been really fun to try and modernize/feminize them. But at the time, we were so busy thinking about other things (time, casting, locations, etc) and just finishing the script, that it kind of got rushed. So, there was some thought that went into it, but ultimately it was lack of thought I guess that we ended up with it :P
