Birthday Greetings from Ian Brodie Can't Post

Please accept my heartiest congratulation on your tenth birthday. When I first had an idea of a guide to the locations of The Lord of the Rings it was to your website I turned.

The quality of your whole website was immediate - it was indeed run by fans for fans.

Since then ToRN has been the first website I visit every morning.

I look forward to following you for the next ten years.

Best regards

Greetings Ian! [In reply to] Can't Post

Greetings Ian, great to "see" you here!

Hey, don't worry about that photo of a Spitfire - I painted one on Saturday and it came out brilliantly! I'll email you an image.

Cheers,
Daniel

Such praise! It's an honor to know that TORn is one of your daily rituals, as it is for so many of us here.

Your work on the Location Guidebook was amazing. I love your photographs. (Shhhhh... I might just have to get your new book, Ian Brodie's New Zealand, for my Kiwi husband's birthday. He'd love it). Smile

Cheers, Ian!

The Guidebook [In reply to] Can't Post

My pleasure. You must visit NZ one day. My philosophy for the guidebook was the same as ToRN really. I have been a fan of Tolkien for almost forty years and the book was completed by me as a fan for fans.

Your guidebook is as close as I'll ever get to NZ... [In reply to] Can't Post

I have a copy and it's autographed by you! It came from a friend's son who traveled to NZ and was thoughtful enough to get it for me as a gift.

As it's unlikely I'll ever be able to travel there, your guidebook is as close as I'll get to seeing the the "real places" where the Middle Earth was "made real"..

The photography was beautiful, it's a great read, and the film images you included, along with the commentary from key folks, are the crowning touch.

Thanks for stopping by and wishing you many more "good mornings" on this site!

My friend and I used your guidebook quite extensively when we took our trip to NZ in March 2007, and I still pull it out from time to time to plan my next visit. Smile

Yours was one of the first [In reply to] Can't Post

film-related books I got... and it's newer edition. I'm looking forward to putting it to good use next March when I finally get my dream of visiting Middle-ear... I mean... New Zealand.

Thanks so much for sharing this past 10 years with us... and we're definitely going to make it another 10 (x10) ;)

Cheers!

I really need these new films to take me back to, and not re-introduce me to, that magical world.

How wonderful to see you here.

You're book is a highly treasured New Zealand souvenir. I bought it while on a tour for the filming locations. It was really useful, a wonderful book to read and look at (such an amazing pictures). And the entire Fellowship I traveled with put messages in it about our tour.

And I'm surely looking forward to a Hobbit-version, which hopefully will be used likewise.

A wonderful resource Ian ... [In reply to] Can't Post

Its sits with my map of New Zealand and a collection of post cards, a travel brochure and a car rental pamphlet in my 'wish corner' Cool of the house.
I've been putting the locations from the book into my satelite navigator - for when I get there Smile
The pictures and the scenery in the book is lovely - and so easy and leisurely to read - just like being there!

and thankyou for being here!

Cheers
